As you can imagine, given the success of our athletic programs that our football head coach job is an attractive role.

    Wait…what?

Taylor leaves....Thompson leaves....back-to-back seasons. That is not stable, normal fallout. Sac known as a commuter school - football team turning into an airport.

Between this and comments on the Sac fan site I get the feeling the true believers at the school feel that the Taylor era was the norm. Good for them, fans should feel that way. However it seems to me that Taylor was the exception to the rule. A great hire. I was worried when they lured him from a Pac-12 program, and was right to be worried, but the past few years are not the tradition of Sac athletics. My two cents.

Oh I got it… they could hire Ron Gould! You know got them PAC12 connections.

It's looking like the UNLV OC could be Sac State's guy

Michael Vick took the job at Norfolk St. So all of the Sac St. talk was just noise.

It would be a good hire for Sac. Young and inventive offensive mind. UNLV had a pretty solid offense this last season. That being said, without significant ties to Sac State you have to imagine that it's a stepping stone if he's successful. That is why I like having a HC with significant toes to the university.

I remember distinctly when Sluka bailed after 3 stellar games (due to non-payment of NIL deal by the Rebs) -- the UNLV offense didn't miss one beat, in fact, started firing even harder.

He's also the developer of the "go-go offense" which looks like a triple option spread combo from what I can tell.

He’s a good OC. Surprising he couldn’t find a better gig this cycle. With that history of making empty promises he’ll fit right in at csus.

    From the Sac Bee:

UNLV offensive coordinator Brennan Marion is a finalist and well may be the leading candidate for the vacant Sacramento State football post, The Sacramento Bee has learned through two sources with direct knowledge of the situation. Marion is a hot name in college football, with a wide-open offensive attack he coordinates that goes by “Go-Go” having helped boost a sagging Running Rebels program into a nationally ranked one. No. 24 UNLV is 10-3 and will play Cal in the L.A. Bowl at 6 p.m. Wednesday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.

Marion did not make the trip with the Rebels as he aspires to become a head college coach for the first time. He is one of an army of people who have expressed interest in the post at Sacramento State, which closes the listing on Wednesday.

    From the Sac Bee:

To clarify, the $54 million the SAC-12 has mentioned is not one lump sum that has been raised or secured but a 10-year commitment from local businesses to commit to the NIL efforts should Sacramento State gain entry into a higher-level conference in the FBS such as the revamped Pac-12 or the Mountain West.

Sacramento State in September announced that it would build a new football stadium to replace 55-year-old Hornet Stadium. That project would not be completed until the 2028 season, and the Hornets could not enter another conference in football without updated football and basketball facilities.
