    I believe it's the first time we elevated a career position coach. In RG defense, he likely inherited Biggs' minimal budget, and it sounds like Hawk helped increase that. Did we also increase scholarship dollars under Hawk?

    I personally loved RG and maybe he was under funded I don’t know. But my point was to make him an example of how a positional coach sometimes falters as a HC in college coaching. I’d say he’s doing quite well at the Rams. So no criticism of him as a coach or as a person.

    The CSU vs UC thing is overblown. We're rivals so deal with it. We laugh at Sac but we don't laugh at Portland State or Northern Colorado.

    Chill SSUCDalum...this is a great message board with hard core fans of a great program that reps the Sac area well.

    And I love that you guys talk about other programs. The Sac-UCD rivalry is one of my favorites, The truth (so hard to admit) is you guys have been our daddy in football for over 70 years...but every year is another chance and we get you guys every once in awhile.

    For all the trash talk, its not unusual to see a Sac undergrad go to Davis for Grad School or vice versa for a masters in education. Know a few people who did either.

    My cousin was a Davis grad in 02 or 03 and did Sac for her special Ed program or whatever it was.

    One if my dad's closest friends is a Sac grad but is a very proud alum of UC Davis' King Law school.
    Another friend a few classes below mine graduated from Davis but works at Sac State for a community outreach program.

    Dung pile: Walking around the East Concourse at the playoff game you instantly get the organic aroma of the UCD Livestock Yards. Where else can you get that? Unique. To me those comments are just statements of envy. Nothing more. So to those across the causeway, thanks! Happy Holidays!
    We all have a lot to be thankful for.

    Agreed, have at least five friends and family who did undergrad at UCD and grad school at Sac, almost all in Kinesiology.

    The schools are a great package for this area.

    Sac adds a 6'2 205 QB who had offers from Cal, Florida A&M, Iowa State, Louisville, Miami, NAU, Oregon, SDSU, TCU, Tennessee, UNLV, Utah and Virginia Tech.

    are these all 2025 commits? Seems like if you’re bringing in this many guys on top of their fall recruits, they must be releasing some existing players? Only a handful of guys put themselves in the portal.

    It didn't turn out so great for Hornet basketball. From 6 league wins under Coach Laird, increased to 7 with lots of transfers, but only 4 last year w DP.

    Only one DI win this year w interim coach, then likely at least one rebuilding year. I'd say that hiring doesn't-commit Coach David Patrick was a poor choice by AD Mark Orr.

    Coach Laird wasn't flashy but provided stability and had the team on an upswing. The high school gym and minimal support means only a local coach has a chance of staying for even 3-5 years. Orr likely felt jobbed by Coach Katz' late departure, and DP left in late May. He has a history of moving every two years or less.

    He did, at a late date which essentially guaranteed Laird one year as HC.

    Well said. As I've gotten older, I've stopped rooting against any young student athletes. I'll always root for my Aggies, but as an alumni, I no longer have any sort of rivalry. My cousin went to Sac State, coworkers, etc. I would never call them the names I used to yell from the student section at Toomey field. It makes no sense.

    I live in SEC country and I can say that it is not uncommon at all for people to follow their rival's recruiting. That being said, football is a way of life down here. I also don't think there is a singular correct way in being a fan. If you don't want to be invested as much as others that's fine just as it's fine if there are folks who do want to be heavily invested.

    I think going out hiking is kind of strange, but it's totally fine if people want to do that.

    Rivalries are rivalries but should be kept in perspective. Harvard and Yale have a rivalry and both schools supply the nation with great workers and the occasional misfit. Same for Cal and Stanford, Ohio State and Michigan, Duke and North Carolina, etc.,... Where I take issue with SSUCDalum are comments like "we root for UCD outside of causeway. All the disrespect calling us janitors is just bs" and "I bet I make more money than most of you on here."

    As noted there are people on the Sac site who refer to UCD as the Dung Pile and the Manure Pile...and not just referring to the Causeway game.

    Moreover I don't give a damn how much SSUCDalum makes, or how fancy a car SSUCDalum drives, or just how great SSUCDalum is in intimate pursuits. Nice to know SSCUDAlum measures life by that standard.

    I like cheering against Sac State but the "state school" chant we go against them and Poly IS stupid because we are a public school and the whole UC vs CSU rivalry is silly.

    Things were much clearer before the California State Colleges started calling themselves California State Universities. Sacramento State is a perfectly good college,

    I say that as a person who has taken more classes at state colleges than at UC, the two are not the same, although they have been converging with UC dropping SAT requirement.

    I moved my post to the Sacramento State thread:

    I've been following TBM_JY on Twitter. He said the following three tweets about Sacramento State:

    https://twitter.com/TBM_JY/status/1873793803418755204

    It’s not a questions of “if”
    @sacstate
    goes to FBS, it is a question of “when” & “where”.
    I do not believe the
    @MountainWest
    or
    @pac12
    are viable options right now, HOWEVER could another G6 conference be interested?

    Adding time zones is important!

    https://www.twitter.com/TBM_JY/status/1873798084133785800

    I agree.
    It’s either CUSA or SB if they are to get an offer.
    “Waiting” is not a good strategy in conference realignment. Kill or be killed.

    https://twitter.com/TBM_JY/status/1873802764561899542

    With MWC adding UC Davis, there is Almost no chance they add Sac St right now.
    PAC has gone on record that they are not interested. I don’t believe everything they say to the press, but I do believe this

    Brennan Marion has been on a recruiting stampede. 247 Sports is currently showing 23 high school commits and 24 transfers. This is an astonishing number of commits and it makes one wonder what is going to happen to many of the players on the team who played for Andy Thompson and still have eligibility left.

    It now appears that Marion will be letting players go to make space for his new recruits. This is starting to look very similar to what Deon Sanders did at Colorado when he became the head coach there and then immediately cut a whole lot of the current players to make room for all the players he was bringing in.
