Guys on the Sac board have been hearing that Troy Taylor (Utah OC) has been offered the HC position. This would be a huge get for the hornets in my honest opinion. Taylor was very good as co-OC at EWU and has Utah's offense in the top third of FBS teams according to Massey.

Rumors of other finalists includes Angus McClure (UNR assistant HC), Jon Osterhout (ARC HC), and Klayton Adams (co-OC Colorado).

It would be a total shocker if Troy Taylor took the job. I guess the only reason would be if he wants to move back to the area.

This is crazy to me...He had a lot of momentum. I thought he would end up at the Mountain West level.

Still kind of scratching my head as to why Taylor would take a pay cut to live in an area with a higher cost of living to coach a team that currently has some serious question marks in terms of overall team talent. Definitely going to be an up hill battle for him.

Likely has family ties to the area, and if he is married, maybe his wife does as well. Happy wife happy life, lol.

In fairness, this is how we got Hawkins. But Hawk had just flamed out with the Buffaloes. Without the local connection for both, this would never happen.

Not sure when it was but he was a radio broadcaster for Cal, and was not allowed to both coach HS and broadcast NCAA games.

While he has ties to the region, I do not see any specific connection to Sac State. Did I miss something? Also, does anyone know what they kind of salary he's getting from Sac and what he walked away from?

Dan had stints at Boise State and obviously, Colorado before this...back when Colorado was in the Big 12 playing Oklahoma and Texas most years.

Taylor saying he got a 7-8 year contract FULLY guaranteed. WOW. If he has roots here, even if he knows hes walking into a partial disaster, he knows he's getting paid for 7 years no matter how sideway this goes. Maybe he turns it around but I doubt it.

They showed Sears the door one season removed from going 7-4 in 2017. Good thing he has guaranteed money coming his way.
