Taylor leaves....Thompson leaves....back-to-back seasons. That is not stable, normal fallout. Sac known as a commuter school - football team turning into an airport.
Between this and comments on the Sac fan site I get the feeling the true believers at the school feel that the Taylor era was the norm. Good for them, fans should feel that way. However it seems to me that Taylor was the exception to the rule. A great hire. I was worried when they lured him from a Pac-12 program, and was right to be worried, but the past few years are not the tradition of Sac athletics. My two cents.
It would be a good hire for Sac. Young and inventive offensive mind. UNLV had a pretty solid offense this last season. That being said, without significant ties to Sac State you have to imagine that it's a stepping stone if he's successful. That is why I like having a HC with significant toes to the university.
I remember distinctly when Sluka bailed after 3 stellar games (due to non-payment of NIL deal by the Rebs) -- the UNLV offense didn't miss one beat, in fact, started firing even harder.
