“ As a student it was pretty challenging to attend the Illinois State game because I didn’t know it was free until a few days before and many STEM courses (including PHY 7A, which is a nightmare) had their finals scheduled for Monday. The weekend was full of review sessions hosted by professors and TAs. This made it hard for me to attend and also for my friends. I’m glad I was able to go but it completely depended on the fact that I had been studying that morning.”

Lordy does that bring back memories. I’m in my late 60s, and still have that nightmare of walking into 194chem and they were handing out finals that i forgot to study for. I hate that dream.

It bothers me that you guys (and gals) never knew that there were free tickets. Many of us bought student tickets which athletics was distributing. We’ve got to do better on that front as well as encouraging students to attend games. When i was a student there were pep rallies on the quad on the Friday before a game, the band-uh and cheer leaders were usually there, and i even remember Coach Sochor showing up. The Aggie would list games and have articles regarding who we were playing. Do they ever have pep rallies anymore?

Thanks for sharing that. Lordy, Vermillion is not an easy place to get to. I was looking at flights, but the combination of flying into Omaha and then driving in lousy weather grounded me. You guys seem to always have a great team, i hope we can hang in there at your house and have a shot at pulling out a W.

Athletics have been very tight lipped about anything related to a fbs move and stadium expansion. I’ve asked a couple of times. And i get it. Once info is leaked, it can spread and they lose control of how and when the message is officially released. My hunch is when the time is right, we will be pleasantly surprised.

The team travels today and several players take some of their finals proctored tomorrow.

What is it that brings students to games these days? Do they need free shirts and other swag? Back in the day, we didn’t get anything free that i recall and the toomb on the west side was always full. The frats and sororities always had something going on for entertainment in the stands. Somehow we need the stadium to be “the place” to be on saturday night.

United economy is major punishment. The seats are so squeezed together that you have to partially close your laptop bc of the leaned seat in front of you.

Thanks, saw that. I’m not going to make it. There are few flights that go into Sioux falls and Omaha is a 3 hour drive. If they make it to frisco my wife and i will go.

The problem with Woodstocks is its so small its hard to find good seating when its busy. Sudwurks has an outside screen with lots of seating, but I’m not so sure the video is very good quality. But I’m sure they’ll have it on the monitors inside as well. The Grad was the perfect venue for watch parties. Non traveling team members would be there and the atmosphere was tremendous.

I actually emailed the alumni center about this 2 weeks ago. They said they were considering their options. I also asked athletics. They said that when they book charters they have to do it months in advance. The alumni center did say that if we make it to frisco they may have a plan. It’s so much easier getting to DAL or Bozeman compared to Vermillion.

Is The Aggie still published?

I’m looking at flights into sioux falls out of SMF. They’re very limited, and the few mostly connect via Denver. I’ve missed several connecting flights through the years in Denver. I wish we had a fan charter. Unless something changes, i think I’ll be watching this one from home.

Was traveling during the first half. Had to watch the second half on my cell phone. Looking forward to watching the entire game tomorrow. On that punt fake, it looked like the ball never past the first down marker. Great win.
