  • Week 2: San Diego @ UC Davis
As for the defense, I thought they struggled. USD seemed to have guys open all night, and they ran decently. We got no pressure on their QB. USD was in the hole the whole first half with mistakes and penalties, and played VERY conservatively. When they got back to their game plan on the third, they sliced and diced us for two easy drives.

It was kinda fun seeing USD run the old west coast offense.

They doubled Doss and I think that’s why we tried to go long so often. One long TD was dropped, a couple others were broken up by really good defensive plays. Thought we’d exploit the middle of the field more because of how they doubled the outside but I guess the streak is the hot call.

It’s that much attention it’s no wonder that hook and lateral worked so well. That was the call/play of the game. Led to the TD after they took the lead and gave us some momentum.

I’ll write tomorrow after a good night’s sleep at the Hyatt ( 3 1/2 games and a 7:00 kickoff makes for too late to drive home)

    Couple quick non-football observations:

    1) biggest home opener crowd in quite some time. A ton of kids running the field at halftime. Expect more in two weeks

    2) game experience was much better than I’m the past. More food trucks. I thought the sideline announcer was a good addition. Fun night at the Ag!

I’m heading over in a bit. Should be a good alumni turnout. Be fun to swap stories and watch a victory.

BigSky Tv according to Facebook page. Watch on pluto

Bull in the ring isn’t part of modern football practices. We never did it under Sochor back In the early 80’s, and I doubt it ever showed up in Davis after. It’s kind of a youth football thing where coaches don’t know how to run an effective practice
  • RIP Jason Hairston
    It’s a very sad situation.
  • Week 2: San Diego @ UC Davis
one of our linemen got hurt late in the game and came up. not sure who it was.

The A’s are on 1140 so no clue about the show. Tomorrow? Might have been a day early last week because we played Thursday. I thought that was when it was on last season

USD scares me a bit. They get REALLY up for Big Sky teams, and have beaten two of them the past two years in the playoffs. They have a talented QB and some solid skill players. They throttled NAU last year on defense, getting big sack after big sack. We need to start fast on offense, no special team mishaps, and get some early stops on defense.

this is a big game. Win this and a 3-1 September looks very possible.

he was suited up on the sideline; i thought it was mentioned here that the radio guys indicated he wasn't at 100%.

I thought the announcement said it was a weekly thing on 1140
  • Offensive line play in the Big Sky
I told AgAlum that if they would have recovered the onside kick, they would win -> we had no answer on D in the 4th quarter.
  • Offensive line play in the Big Sky
hard to fault them for the 1st TD after the pick they returned to the 1 yard line.
  • Week 1: Big Sky
I was watching some game Saturday and they were talking about App State, and it was pretty obvious they thought they were still FCS
  • Week 1: Big Sky
That was Northern Alabama first game as a FCS team. That one is a big surprise
  • Week 1: Big Sky
Don’t forget Idaho . List to Fresno 79-13
  • Week 1: Big Sky
in my youth, there was a weekly feature in the paper ‘the bottom ten’, a humorous take on the worst teams in the NCAA. UTEP was a staple and referred to as ‘University of Texas El Intercepted Passo’
  • Week 2: San Diego @ UC Davis
I don’t expect the Spartans to get more than one or two wins, although last QB looked good. He did struggle last season, though

Remember Portland last year. Looked like world beaters after 2 impressive FBS games, then their season imploded
