Shows how the game is evolving. 6’11’ kid with touch and nice feet, and no offers from even a top mid-major. Granted the ACL Is a scare, but the post player is a not a big part of today’s game.

Sorry to hear Harris is leaving. Good size and he was a JC scorer. Wish him well

I didnt say sugarcoat or ignore, put it in off topics or write specifics about how it is effecting a sport (like how giving an entire football program another year of eligibility will effect the next 4 recruiting cycles).

If there is news of new recruits, it would be nice to see it in this thread. If there is a COVID thread I’ll chose to look there or not.

Since I’m suffering corona overload, how about moving virus talk to off topics. Maybe we get get sports talk as a distraction. They have a best basketball moments final four on MBB Instagram. Maybe we can start a ‘favorite Aggie stadium’ thread as a healthy distraction? And a ‘favorite Les-era’ memory in MBB ? I’ll start tomorrow

I read an article that universities are planning for a delayed football start. All speculation at this point, of course, Just focus on the day to day, and what we can control

I still would be surprised if BB players got an extra season. How about Poly? Their season was over since they didn’t qualify for the BW tourney? Spring sports are much different - we weren’t too close to conference play. Lots of moving parts here, not the least the lost cash inflow that schools budget in.

we may have been the only school in the nation that got in their spring football. some schools got a couple practices in, most got none. in the grand scheme of things, that's a minor thing....but.....we'd have been going into fall without having those workouts to figure out the new QB. hope all the kids can do some training and rehab on their own.

i cant imagine they would extend basketball eligiblity since they all played a full regular season. true, 64 teams didnt get to play for the championship and a bunch more didn't get to play in the other post-season events, but they were able to play in 30+ games. the sports that just started, like baseball and softball, are a different story.

there's gonna be a cost to the schools to deal with the extra scholarships. in addition, the NCAA is kicked back WAY less to the schools (down from $600M to $225M), which will impact all sports.

    good one!!

Maybe it’s from Re-watching the ‘country music’ series on PBS (if you haven’t, watch it even if that’s not your genre), but my mental image was Porter Waggoner with that blonde pompadour. Rhinestone football jersey.

Porter and Rex? Sounds like a country western duo from the 60’s
  • 2020 Men's Basketball Big West Tournament
In the San Jose Mercury, they are running a simulated March madness. #15 Irvine upset San Diego State in OT. Wonder if Russell Turner offended anyone with sexist comments this time?
  • Spring sports
I was wondering how this would effect incoming players. Coaches recruit x number of players to replace Y number of graduates. Makes sense they would raise the limit for a year.

Why do I think that the Sac QB will get another year of eligibility out of this?

sounds like what we/they were saying about us last year!
  • 2020 Men's Basketball Big West Tournament
the header I saw on the article said ‘cancelled’ but article spelled it out. My wife thought the same as you when she saw it. Let’s hope it doesn’t head toward cancellation
  • 2020 Men's Basketball Big West Tournament
    article said suspended indefinitely, correct?
  • Spring sports
I hope this is a suspension and they’ll get back to it at some point soon. I wonder if they practice?

Feel bad that the players don’t get a final shot, but not surprised based on the recent NBA actions.

this is the guy i heard about at the football banquet. not sure what the transfer rules are, but he is a mid-season transfer (played in 13 games) so he might be eligible in the second half of next year.

i can't remember our RPI that season, but i'm pretty sure we were below 100. the NET seems to be the one that the committee follows these days. according to Jon Wilner in his Pac12 Hotline in the SJ Mercury, he thinks the Pac will get 5-6 teams depending on how tournaments go. Their NET is 77 (RPI is 61), and last season the lowest at-large was 73. So, Irvine is far below that.
  • 2020 Women's Big West Conference Tournament
They will probably practice there again today. Didn’t realize NBA teams used the ARC. This is a little unusual that they have a 3-day gap between games, so getting in a little extra work.
  • 2020 Men's Basketball Big West Tournament
i doubt it. their NET ranking is 111. UCLA is 76 and they are considered an unlikely bubble team (assuming they don't win the Pac12 tourney)
