  • 2020 Men's Basketball Big West Tournament
we need upsets on the other side of the (original) bracket to avoid Irvine on Friday.
  • The Home Stretch
what was frustrating to me (from the boxscore since i wasn't able to watch) was that we 'let' UCR shoot lights out again in the first half and build a big lead -> just like we did at home. Gallant effort down the stretch to make it a game, but they shot 58% from 3 in the first half (compared to our 30%) to get to that 7-point lead.

need to get Manjon a few buckets early. seems like he gets a little frantic at the end in games he has struggled shooting. Gonzalez has been icy from the 3 line, and we need to get him going. Hawaii, followed by Irvine, followed by.....that's a tough stretch for a bid!
  • The Home Stretch
If CSUN wins (10 wins and second seed)and SB loses, we lose tiebreaker to SB cuz they beat Irvine. We’d be 4. We need a four way tie apparently and we somehow get the second tiebreaker. That’s based on the guy in big west boards who tracks this stuff.

Had we won Thursday and finished in 3way with CSUN and SB, we’d win that tiebreaker. We were 3-1 vs them
  • The Home Stretch
I forgot we lost at home to Riverside . They were lights out in first half and built a big lead. Late surge by us got us close. Need to defend much better than last matchup with them
  • The Home Stretch
Still options for us to finish 3-5. Win and we are 3-4. 3 would require a CSUN win over Hawai’i and UCSB loss at Poly. Could happen. Else we’re at 4/5 with opponent TBD by other two games. 3 seed and we would see Irvine until final.

4 point underdogs tonight which surprised me
  • The Home Stretch
I think putting the outcome on 2 extra FTs midway through the first half is a bit of a stretch. Maybe we got some calls out of his complaints that netted us a few points. Seemed like a non-issue
  • The Aggies in 2020 - A Look Ahead & Offseason Talk
Today’s the last session. Talked to Hawk at the basketball game last night and he was really excited about the progress they made. Health of team is good. Very excited about what the defense is doing.

As an aside, he’s talking a trip next week for spring break. Destination? India to volunteer at one of Mother Teresa’s orphanage. I’m guessing not many football coach would make this type of selfless journeys!
  • The Home Stretch
I was sitting on the court last night and you could feel the change with the second and third 3 that guy made. I think those were the only 4 we made all game. We got tight on offense, tried to force things late in the shot clock and missed a couple decent looks. I like Koehler’s effort but he really struggles under the hoop. That was painful after we looked so good for the first 15 minutes of the second half.

As for the T? Boy, I didn’t see or hear anything that led me to sense a T coming on. Les gets pretty demonstrative at times but that wasn’t one of them
  • The Home Stretch
I’ll be there. Grabbing my free pizza guy pizza from Saturday, then heading over. I’m 5-1 this year (Fullerton loss), hoping to see another win!
  • WBB: UC Riverside (8-19, 4-9) at UCD (15-11, 10-3) 2:30 pm Saturday, February 29th
if i can find a bookie that takes action on mid-major women's basketball, i think i have a good investment plan moving forward!
  • Causeway Cup 2019-20
tough day in the cup; softball and women's golf both lost.
  • MBB: Long Beach State (10-19, 5-8) at UCD (13-16, 7-6) 5 pm Saturday, February 29th
nice pics, as usual. i love the last one of Koehler's intention miss. that thing has ZERO arc on it. looks like a free throw of mine from my old high school days!

I didn’t like our break alignment with Koehler at the ‘point’ at their free throw line. They let him catch it and he’d pass back to a guard and tended to stand in place. They’d either trap at the baseline or force a double team at the Koehler logjam. If he could handle the bell, he could have spun and brought the ball up the middle and opened up lanes. We were a little limited then since Squire fouled out. You’d think a small lineup gives us a quickness advantage to break the press, but length and quickness eliminated space in a hurry

I was sitting in the north end with AgAlum and we were dumbfounded. I went to the bathroom and missed about 30 seconds of play.......3 turnovers and 6 points off the lead!

I looked at the play by play after I got back to the hotel and I believe I counted 7 turnovers in the last 4 minutes! That’s a 70 turnover pace! I bet they scored on at least 6 of those.
  • Ags Beat Loyola Marymount 4-3 in 24 Innings
I think today might be a 9/7 inning DH so Loyols can make their early evening flight. That’s still a lot of innings to cover

Still a log jam at the top. I think UCSB will win their two home games. Win over Hawai’i ‘should’ give us a 3 seed. Should be an interesting week

they had a video of the last diaper derby (two weeks ago?). only one baby got off the starting line. when he crossed the finish line, it looked like Secretariat at the Belmont Stakes. i think they are also pushing a canned food drive; donation gives you a chance to win an Apple watch. I'll be there. starting with baseball (the son of a friend pitches for loyola), women's game, an EVO event, and the men's game.
