Sac State HC Troy Taylor has been exceptional since he took over the Hornets. In just two years at the helm, he is 15-1 in the Big Sky with two Big Sky titles and has taken the Hornets to the playoffs in both years. His teams have improved each year and they are the #4 seed in the playoffs this year. His record speaks for itself and it's paying off in a big way for recruiting. Very, very impressive to say the least.
Here's how the two coaches compare at their current schools:
Troy Taylor:
Dan Hawkins:
2021: (8-3 overall) (5-3, 5th place in the Big Sky)
Totals at UCD: (31-21 overall) and (21-16 in the Big Sky)
Comparing both coaches: Taylor is 18-6 and 15-1 and Hawkins is 31-21 and 21-16.
It's obvious that Taylor is off to a fast start and has been very successful in just 2 years.
I agree, but the ever optimistic me says the Edwards Athletic Performance center will lead to significantly better recruiting. There is simply nothing else like it in all the FCS.
But what if the students vote to kill the program by ending the student fees? I personally think they'd be better served in capping them rather than cutting them all together.
