Looks like Teddye has already received offers from Cal and Stanford. Good for him!

    Davis has rich donors?

Can't help but think all the players knew before we did. Hopefully TB is the only impact departure.
  • Lan Larison named Big Sky offensive player of the year
I do worry about Lan, TT and Connors transferring....BUT all this has likely all been decided. We just don't know about it yet.
  • Hawkins Stepping Down per SacBee
    Welp....

He's 63, so he might actually be done. I really enjoyed his time at Davis. He did a lot for the program in a short amount of time. I mean, think about where we were when Gould left.

On the bright side, Plough probably keeps all the assistants (?) since he isn't presently a HC. Maybe these guys don't lose their jobs.
  • 2023-24 FCS Playoffs

Pioneer started getting an auto-bid in 2013. It was a mistake.

The conference has gone 2-9 in 1st round games, being outscored 408-168.

USD won 2 first round games but got shellacked in round 2. The conference is 2-11 in the FCS overall being outscored 491-178.

Aside from USD's 2 wins (Cal Poly in 2016 and NAU 2017), their conference has been a joke in the FCS playoffs.

They are the only non-scholarship conference with an autobid, and it hasn't gone well for them.

Yeah, my info is from wikipedia...shoot me :D

Can't help but think Davis would have scored 42 as well, but held UND to 17-21
  • 2023-24 FCS Playoffs
Losing to a 5-6 team that wasn't EWU by 17 was the low point of the season.
  • 2023-24 FCS Playoffs
I think EWU and Weber being crappy really hurt the BSC and prevented the conf. from having 5 teams in, whether it was us as the 5th team or not.
Beating a dead horse here, but losing to NAU was the killer.
  • 2023-24 FCS Playoffs
In my humble opinion, its looking like Sac might roll UND......Davis would have as well. Davis probably scores more points in doing so.

The Davis defense being the major difference between Sac and Davis. The committee really slept on Davis, as we appear to be the more well-rounded team.

UND looks like they should have been left out. Wow.
  • 2023-24 FCS Playoffs
They just don't like Davis for whatever reason....
  • 2023-24 FCS Playoffs
Weber was ranked #22 when Davis beat them (right?). So there was a ranked win.
  • Lan Larison named Big Sky offensive player of the year
Wow! Missed 3 games and still OPOY. This really shows how dominant he was.
  • 2023-24 FCS Playoffs
Davis cracks the top-25 @ #25 in the STATS Poll, but is left out of the Coaches Poll. Weird activities by the coaches/committee.....

  • Looking Ahead to the 2024 Football Season Discussion
For whatever reason (OC, injuries etc.), Hastings regressed to a "game management" QB. He was an impact QB last season.
Next year's schedule is tough. We need a QB who impacts the game further than managing it. Hastings can be that guy, but things have to change. Or we need a guy who can do damage with his legs.
  • 2023-24 FCS Playoffs
Until we start beating Montana, Montana State and EWU (especially when they suck) consistently, this 'aint it.
  • 2023-24 FCS Playoffs
As far as BSC getting only 4 teams....EWU being "down" the last couple years, and Weber being "down" this year has hurt the Big Sky more than Idaho being "up" the past couple.

The reality is Davis has been a middle-of-the-conference team since the good 2018 year.
Throwing out the COVID year (3-2) Davis has gone 18-14 in conference play in 4 seasons.
  • 2023-24 FCS Playoffs
Yesterday was a fantastic finish to an average season.

Committee was never going to leave out a team ranked in the top-15 for the entire season (Sac), and Davis wasn't good enough to warrant letting 5 teams in from the Big Sky.
  • 2023 WEEK 12: CAUSEWAY
When you see Herder's "bubble Out" teams it makes sense Davis makes it. I had forgotten Weber was ranked #22 we we beat them, so 2 ranked wins.

I still think its weak to see the Pioneer as an auto-bid. I'd rather see the below 5 teams in the playoffs before Drake.

    25. UIW
    26. UT Martin
    27. Western Carolina
    28. Chattanooga
    29. Eastern Illinois
    30. Holy Cross

I'm not as optimistic, but we'll find out tomorrow morning right?
