Jackson was a horse in high school. I remember seeing him in a TV game, outstanding player. Our RB room is solid behind Fish. Aside from the young Jackson, you have Acia who took meaningful carries and Walsh who saw time on special teams duty. Going to be interesting to see if the portal offer to the one Running Back pans out.

On the bright side, I think this Demond Williams debacle will light a fire under governing bodies to make some changes. Hopefully, positive ones.

That situation is proof that schools are offering money in return for signing longer term commitments, so them holding the athlete to the commitment is an example of changes being made.

That agent also represents Jedd Fisch so makes sense he would stand with Fisch. Apparently college football's favorite villain Lane Kiffin and LSU are going after Williams.

Vargas has competition. Cal signed a 220-pound back w 4.4 speed from UW, a 200-pound back from UTEP, and a three-or-four-star HS RB from Miami.

I hope Carter has success at Cal. As i recall he’s been on the injury list before this last season. Hopefully he can stay healthy.

At Davis, he would have gotten lots of playing time at RB, and the opportunity to improve his game, blocking, catching out of the backfield, and most important, ball protection. In addition, he could have worked on special teams (like Lan) to increase his value when the NFL draft comes knocking.

At Cal, my guess is that they will expect results and will be much less forgiving for any mistakes. May find himself watching more of the games at Cal than playing in them at Davis.

Vargas is going to get playing time at Cal, he’ll likely be one of the top two backs. Mohammed is also very good so Vargas is not going to be the exclusive ball carrier, but he wasn’t going to do that here.

I wasn't even aware Hunter had a year of eligibility left. Must be why we're recruiting a kicker.

New HC leveraging some recruiting relationship from his time in Fresno and Westwood. Going to be transfer central. Easier to get transfers admitted there than it is HS kids. Sac State south?

this might sound dumb, but i thought that some of his struggles had to do with 'scheme'. I HATED that they field goal team huddled, then sprinted up to the line like they were trying to fool the opponent. Just get the line up there, make sure they are set and ready to cover the pressure, and let your kicker focus on the uprights.

These portal entries reminds me of basketball last year when several guys who had exhausted their eligibility (DeBruhl, Johnson) put their names in hoping that some waiver might be granted.

i wonder if this can be credited to our tendency to play overly fast... there were hundreds of moments where we had the lead and 100% should've been moving a little slower to keep the clock ticking but kept the tone like we were down 20. clock management basics felt a little off all season

even when we play fast on offense, we rarely rush up to the line and snap quick. It just never made sense to have the protection rush up there before we set up for the kick. Did it for both FG and PAT, where the play clock shouldn't be an issue. I think it was all strategic - a way to get the opponent off guard in case we run a fake.

We'd have to check the film, but did the holder and kicker also join the sugar huddle, or was it just the protection? If it included the kicker and holder, then I agree 100% on revisiting that. If not, then moot point if the holder and kicker were separate.

Finally, something happened today... According to his X post (@BoogieSylvester), the Aggies have offered Weber State RS FR Running Back Chauncey Sylvester. Hails from St. John Bosco in SoCal. 305 yards on 60 carries and 4 TD last season. I like the sound of a Tailback called "Boogie"
