We've needed better traffic control for years. We ride our bikes to the game. I'm absolutely certain that we were home before, had we driven, we'd have made it out of the parking lot.

They don't change the programming for the signals for the games so there are unreasonably long waits for traffic flow that isn't there.

How knew having good crowds could cause such problems - but great problems they are!

    Are things better for football?

Yes, Shaq's son is no Shaq. I saw that in the UCSB game. I think there's a reason why he has been at four different schools and it isn't because his talent is in demand. It's clear that he is only starting for one reason. In his four years, he has never averaged more than 6.7 ppg. and his other stats are just as dismal. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/4684156/shaqir-oneal

"Was it a radio/TV simulcast? There was nobody up top where Wong/Dunning call the radio broadcast." I don't listen to the radio broadcasts, but I do know that the color for TV was done by Darius Graham.

I tuned into the varsity network briefly while at the game. It was Greg on the radio, so it must have been a simulcast. Once we got into our car, the broadcast was off so they must have signed off as soon as the espn feed stopped. I was really hoping for post game comments from Les.

Football is much easier for me. I get off on Hutchinson and turn right at the first light into the lot behind the scoreboard, so traffic signals aren't an issue. i thought that that lights intersection at LaRue and Hutchinson was controlled by traffic cops, no?

Basketball is just bad. For the normal Thursday night with, say, 1500 fans, getting in is stressful. You have walkers and bikes coming to and from the ARC toward the dorms, and the traffic folks don't bother to stop them and make them wait so the line of cars can get in.

Leaving the football stadium i’ve seen traffic cops but not 100% of the time. Going to basketball, for years I’ve taken the Hutchinson exit off 113 but if you time it wrong there can be a big backup turning left onto LaRue. So more recently I’ve been getting off at russel then turn right on LaRue. That has worked well until last night, lol.

So we have all of these managers, and nobody has a plan or can forecast ticket sales for a home basketball game w Sac State?

They had to have had some idea a good crowd was coming. They can't open up the previously used corner concessions and sell sodas, popcorn, candy and hot dogs?
  • agalum

They did have a cash only line that only had a few people. But they ran out of hot dogs before the half and had to make a hot dog run to replenish the stock.

Good to see 3800 there. They should have a system or person to flag the need earlier.

Does the Ass AD in charge of marketing attend games?
  • agalum

If you’re talking about Flush, I see him at most of the games but I’m certain he’s in Bozeman at the moment. But the marketing AD i suspect is under Flush.

Well, we have six Senioe Ass ADs now, this person seems closest to replacing Larry Swanson (when we had two Ass ADs).

I was watching the final 5 minutes today. I didn’t see Bibby walking through the handshake line (i think someone alluded to this). I know he was pissed with the officiating throughout the game but especially in the final minutes - did he sad Kip the line to voice his opinion?

That was me! I actually don’t think Bibby was there the last few minutes of the game

I’ll rewatch but I’m pretty sure they showed him complaining to refs during the last minute.

I think he was bitching at the refs for a lot of the game. If he left early i missed it. I guess that’s why i didn’t get his autograph, lol.

my son told my grandson he’d give him $20 if he got Bobby’s autograph or a picture together. He’d give him $50 if he told Bibby the Kings shouldn’t have traded Jason Williams to get him!

I watched the highlights and it looked like Bibby ran over to Johnson who got knocked down on the final shot. Don’t think he ever came back to the handshake line.

A friend who attends 3 - 5 games a year says it was the best crowd he's seen in 20 years.

it was up there. Best I was at before this was 2017 OT victory over Long Beach. Almost 6000 for ESPN broadcast. That was electric

But let's keep the agreement with Stetson, for football...
  • Jdur

Listen, I would like to play Sac year in and year out too, and I think Stetson is a goofy level of competition to be playing (with no regional relevancy), but it is not a UC Davis problem that Sac State left a conference that solidified the rivalry year in and year out without a plan to join a conference/scheduling agreement that would provide stability for future schedules. Davis had scheduling figured out and planning ahead while the Sac admin rushed to leave a conference and try to move up without any confirmation they would be able to fill out a schedule. Realistically Davis and Sac will probably both be in the FBS in the future, and maybe they can figure out scheduling in the future even if Sac is FBS and Davis is still FCS (like we did when Davis was d2 and Sac was d1-aa) but acting like its a Davis problem that Sac made rash decisions that screwed up their scheduling enough that they cant fill out a schedule in the next year doesn't make sense to me.

I do have to say that this Causeway is one of the most exciting in a while no matter the future of it... looking forward to seeing the matchup of a Coombs defense and a Marion offense!
