This team is so balanced and you can tell there are no egos on the team. While we don’t have a star like the past few years, this team is incredibly fun to watch. Unselfish ball…

Ags won this one purely by sheer hustle at both ends of the court. They held Mikey Williams to 12 points after he got 30 against UCSB. On defense they got 10 steals and 5 blocked shots. They also induced 20 fouls by the Hornets, so they got the margin of victory at the foul line. Sevilla is the real deal. Great game. Always good to see UC Davis beat Sac State.

What a terrific crowd and terrific game. Some how with maybe 3 minutes to go I just felt we had this one. There wasn't a reason for this it's just where I was. And what a great team effort.

Great crowd. Can’t remember that big a crowd for a non televised game. Great effort. Held our own on the boards. Two or three more 3’s and we win much more comfortably. Cherry was a load

They gave away coupons to the kids at the women's game. I wonder if a lot of them brought their parents back because they had a great time?

Two great games on Hamilton Court in sequence. Now if only Bob Hamilton Court was painted on the court where it could be read. This MUST be fixed when we join Mountain West.

Some aggressive student marketing plus Sac State staff star power I think

last time I saw a non ESPN crowd this big I think was the senior night for the excellent Corey Hawkins team vs conference runner up Irvine, so it might be the biggest in a decade

3900 folks in the building. I was shocked. Having the band and extra student section on the hornets end in the 2nd half was great.

It was a great basketball atmosphere and I'm sure it helped energize the Aggies. The big question is: How can keep the Aggie fans coming back so we can continue to have good crowds like this?

I’m hoping we get Daugherty back soon - we could use his athleticism on both ends. Was surprised that Stokes basically didn’t play - he’d been averaging about 16 minutes a game coming in.

Here are some snaps from the game. The officials' rotation in the 2nd half seemed hell bent on keeping me from watching the game.

yeah this crowd was fantastic!! I think the student marketing and just constantly hitting socials and emails with “WE HAVE A GAME AND FREE STUFF” and also creating a narrative of why the game is important has been successful for BB and football this year. Really loving getting excitement like this, especially for a year that seems really high in ceiling so far in the big west, and gonna need support for entering the MW next year. Awesome!

Great photo of the crowd! I agree with the comments about non-ego and balanced basketball. Really liking the vibes with each guy and the more cohesive structure of the team. I have loved the stars we have had recently but this team still seems so solid through and through.

Greg Wong and Darius Graham called the game. Greg calls the Aggie women's games as well as baseball.

Yes, I heard Wong say that Scott Marsh was up in Bozeman for tomorrow's game, but I wonder if Bob Williams will be doing any color this season.

Williams was at the game last night sitting on the baseline. Was it a radio/TV simulcast? There was nobody up top where Wong/Dunning call the radio broadcast

Nice win and great to see some fans in the stands. Couple of questions about the arena set up. I live out of state and haven't been to a basketball game in years.

All the empty space behind the basket doesn't look great. I think it's been like that for a few years. But if we get more fan support, like yesterday, in the Mountain West soon, wouldn't it be better to put seats back there instead of a few tables?

Also, when did they put a fence between the student section and the floor? It looked odd on the highlights I saw. Sorry if I sound like I'm complaining after a great win, but just wondering about the arena set up.

A couple keys in the first half. First, we were down 24-14 and really struggling offensively. Combination of good defense/rebounding, a couple Sevilla buckets and easy hoops on assists closed a gap that threatened to get out of hand. Second was with about 3:30 left in the half, down 30-24 with Sac in possession. Fagbemi strips Williams two times in a row, we close the gap and Williams got out of his game.

I don’t think we’re as bad a 3 point shooting team as the stats show. We’re getting good looks, shots look good out of the hand…..and out it goes. Seems like a confidence thing right now.

Speaking of confidence….Wilson’s shot at the end seemed like he had no doubt it was going in.

As for Boyd’s question about the courtside lounge - it’s a better look than what would normally be empty bleachers. It’s nice to have a beer/pizza option on the ground level. Now, if they would move the souvenir stand to a spot where people might actually see it, sales would go up!

My biggest complaint of the arena is the entrance into and exit out of parking. They need to figure out how to get cars in without cycling through the stop/walk lights. And have one or two of the Caltran trained parking attendants actually direct bike and pedestrians so cars don’t have to wait for a string of people to pass. Make the getting into the arena the priority! Took us about 20 minutes from the Hutchinson exit to our Team Aggie parking area (not policed very well, so spots were limited). Crazy - glad we got to Davis somewhat early

Like DrMike said, getting into the parking area was the worse I’ve ever seen. They really need to put a few traffic cops at the intersection turning into the parking area. One direction of cars would block the intersection when the other direction had the green.
The crowd was amazing! I hope the students had so much fun that they come back.

Bob Williams sighting behind the basket on the floor?
  • DrMike
    987
yep, in front of the 'lounge'.

there was no Shaq sighting but 'Special Advisor' Brad Miller was in the building. Seems like a friendly guy -> shook hands and took photos during his LONG wait in the concession line at halftime.

Speaking of Shaq.......little Shaq isn't very good.

Yeah I’m really hoping this facilities master plan (despite my focus on the football stuff) puts in better concessions, a less echoey/wide open environment and maybe a parking lot plan lol

Yet he's has been in the starting lineup...anyone think Shaq may have a "little influence" on Bibby's choices...?

Concessions in the arena need a big upgrade along with the restrooms as well.
