I remember paying for the WBB playoff game against Irvine (?) for my last student game but I think someone then ponied up free tickets for other students.
Two questions:
1) is anybody planning a tailgate get together?
2) how many people are planning to make their way over to the basketball game after the football game?
I'll likely be parking at my old fraternity house and walking or biking to the game, mostly just to take a stroll down memory lane. If people are getting together in one of the parking lots, we'll leave a little early and meet up there before the game.
yeah, tickets are free through the same ticketing app that everyone uses. When you log in with your student ID it has a student ticket option that you can get for free. I think NCAA makes all college football playoff games paid for students? I would much rather us be able to just go to games and show our IDs personally. The website has been finicky for friends before and not recognized their student ticket status but its generally good.
They’re still free but you can’t just flash the card at the gate anymore, you have to claim it online in advance. I think that’s for better attendance tracking purposes but forget the details.
Haven’t yet seen how they’re handling it this year for playoffs
It'd be bucking the trend for sure, in the last 15 seasons, a Dakota State program has won the National Championship 11 times. Eastern Washington has taken one, James Madison (now FBS) took one, Sam Houston State (now FBS) took one and Villanova took one.
The last time the top 4 seeds all made the semis was 2011. So history says one of them is going to lose.
Four times since then, 3 of the top-4 made it. However three of those instances were in the last 5 years (19, 20 and 22). So while history also says it's likely that at least 2 of the top-4 don't make the semis, we've bucked that trend recently.
Also, fun fact but in the last five seasons, 7 of the 20 top-4 seeds didn't make the semifinals. 3 of those 7 instances of a fop-4 getting upset early were Sac St in 19, 21 and 22.
One of the two ESPN commentators on the Selection Show picked the Aggies to be in the championship game vs NDSU and the other had us making it to the semis against MSU.
I was surprised to see us picked to be in the championship game. However, I actually like our chances if we get a game at MSU in the semis. The weather would probably be a big factor with possible high wind, snow, sleet and/or frigid temperatures which would make the passing game difficult and that would make the running game more important for both sides. We played excellent defense against their run in the first game and I think we could do that again. So, if we make them more one-dimensional and dependent on the run and the weather makes their passing game difficult, I like our chances.
