at $5 a ticket, I’m sure we’ll be able to fund as many students as we want to come AND still give the poor NCAA some much needed revenue

I remember paying for the WBB playoff game against Irvine (?) for my last student game but I think someone then ponied up free tickets for other students.

    Two questions:
    1) is anybody planning a tailgate get together?
    2) how many people are planning to make their way over to the basketball game after the football game?

I would love to tailgate. I've got my company party later that evening but heck yes, got to make it to the game!

I'll likely be parking at my old fraternity house and walking or biking to the game, mostly just to take a stroll down memory lane. If people are getting together in one of the parking lots, we'll leave a little early and meet up there before the game.

yeah, tickets are free through the same ticketing app that everyone uses. When you log in with your student ID it has a student ticket option that you can get for free. I think NCAA makes all college football playoff games paid for students? I would much rather us be able to just go to games and show our IDs personally. The website has been finicky for friends before and not recognized their student ticket status but its generally good.

They’re still free but you can’t just flash the card at the gate anymore, you have to claim it online in advance. I think that’s for better attendance tracking purposes but forget the details.

Haven’t yet seen how they’re handling it this year for playoffs

We may be planning to tailgate before the game, and I'm definitely heading to the basketball game afterwards.

I love how nobody has Davis in the Semis (except that dude on the selection show, who had us in the natty which was awesome).

Put it all in the locker room.

It'd be bucking the trend for sure, in the last 15 seasons, a Dakota State program has won the National Championship 11 times. Eastern Washington has taken one, James Madison (now FBS) took one, Sam Houston State (now FBS) took one and Villanova took one.

The last time the top 4 seeds all made the semis was 2011. So history says one of them is going to lose.

Four times since then, 3 of the top-4 made it. However three of those instances were in the last 5 years (19, 20 and 22). So while history also says it's likely that at least 2 of the top-4 don't make the semis, we've bucked that trend recently.

Also, fun fact but in the last five seasons, 7 of the 20 top-4 seeds didn't make the semifinals. 3 of those 7 instances of a fop-4 getting upset early were Sac St in 19, 21 and 22.

I was at the Austin Peay at Sac playoff game in 2019, AP whooped 'em 42-28

One of the two ESPN commentators on the Selection Show picked the Aggies to be in the championship game vs NDSU and the other had us making it to the semis against MSU.

I stand corrected! Those seem to be the only dudes with us in the semis.

I was surprised to see us picked to be in the championship game. However, I actually like our chances if we get a game at MSU in the semis. The weather would probably be a big factor with possible high wind, snow, sleet and/or frigid temperatures which would make the passing game difficult and that would make the running game more important for both sides. We played excellent defense against their run in the first game and I think we could do that again. So, if we make them more one-dimensional and dependent on the run and the weather makes their passing game difficult, I like our chances.

I think if we get caught up in a snow bowl in Bozeman, we get beat again, but let's get to that point to find out! One game at a time, 1-0 mindset.

I'm just excited to see FCS playoff football this weekend, it's such a sweet time to be a FCS fan. So much good football to be played.

Is the MU still the best spot for gear?

Well, right now, entire sections of seats are unsold - so we'll see how many people show up for this playoff game. At least it's not during Thanksgiving weekend - worst turnout ever, except for locals.

This week people are focused on Thanksgiving and it is short notice. We should be thankful it isn't a first round game otherwise it would look like a typical week 2 game in early September against U San Diego.

Give it another week and we'll see how it looks.

Since I don't like going to football games in the rain, my chances of going to the next UC Davis football playoff game are highly dependent on that.

According to Google or Bing, a ten day forecast is accurate about 50% of the time, and a seven day forecast is accurate about 80% of the time.

Well.. with about eleven days away, the forecast is currently partly sunny. I'll check back on Saturday.

Tough to tell what early December will yield weather-wise. Last home playoff game we had it was a cool clear night so hoping for the best!

Did anyone find out how students will get their tickets if "student" is selected at purchase?
