I saw Keelan make some good moves against the 49ers. He was in the game from the start and again lead the Chargers in receptions with 3 for the third straight game. The Niners broadcasters took note of him. I think he has a good chance to make the team.
This article thinks he may end up back on the practice squad. I’d rather see him in a regular roster than back on a practice squad. Maybe he needs to develop a taste for poutine and head north. CFL, USFL, XFL, get some regular playing time. And I’m sure he and his people are looking at everything. Good luck to him!
"Practice squad players make $12,000 per week or $216,000 for 18 weeks. Veteran players with over two years of experience will make a minimum of $16,100 per week or $289,800 for 18 weeks, and a maximum of $20,600 per week or $370,800 for 18 weeks."
The Chargers have 8 wide receivers on their roster, but two of them are on IR and one is out for the season, so I'm hoping Doss gets called up for depth.
I bet there are dumb contract reasons, i.e. if he hits a certain number of days on the main team from the practice team, he's due x-dollars and the new guy isn't.
Doss played 9 snaps (5 on offense and 4 on special teams) but did not get any stats. Sent back to the practice squad but might be back on the roster next game.
Kudos to Doss for fighting to play on Sunday. Life is long and I always admire any athlete that will work hard to get the last steps out of their career. I hope he stays healthy and can leave the game on his terms.
"In his second appearance of the 2023 campaign, Doss played 10 offensive snaps but failed to draw a target. The Chargers will be able to burn one more standard elevation on Doss before they'd have to sign him to the active roster for him to be eligible to suit up."
ESPN listed Doss as second on the Chargers depth chart yesterday, but he did not catch a pass. I watched part of the game and did not see him on the field.
