When studying wide receiver prospects, there are numerous fine-tuned details to examine from route pacing to release mechanics to catch-point prowess. It is very easy to over-complicate the position.
But playing wide receiver always boils down to two elementary areas: can a player get open? And can he catch the football? Regardless of everything else, if a player can do those two things, he will find a home in the NFL.
Those elementary traits are what I keep coming back to when studying UC Davis redshirt senior WR Keelan Doss (6-2, 208, 4.56).
