I was just checking the Pioneer League website to see if I recognize any of the new players, when I saw that OF Damian Stone and IF Nick Leehey have signed contracts with league teams.

Leehey just wrapped up his Aggie career less than a month ago, but he's already gotten into 7 games with the Oakland Ballers. According to Baseball-reference.com he's currently hitting .261 with 4RBI. He was one of very few returning Aggies this year with a batting average that didn't decline from 2024.

Stone is hitting a robust .359 and 5 RBI through 19 games with the Ogden Raptors, according to the same site.

Interestingly, one of Stone's current teammates is former UCD and Maine pitcher Brett Erwin, who has pitched for 5 teams in 4 different leagues since 2022 (even in Australia) despite compiling just a 2-6 won-loss record and a 7.56 ERA (also per Baseball-Reference.) That's some perserverance.

The 2025 MLB Draft takes place in early July. Senior pitchers Bryan Green and Noel Valdez seem like the most likely Aggies to be drafted, if any.
