This is one of the two main polls that the Selection Committee gives a lot of weight. It's hard to figure out what they're thinking by moving South Dakota up to #4 ahead of the Aggies when the Yotes only beat an unranked, 5-6 North Dakota team by 6 points while we lost by 2 to undefeated, #2 Montana State. Smells fishy to me....

WHAT HEAD COACH JIM LES HAD TO SAY

"We are playing some really good teams, so we are challenging our guys, and we want to keep that in perspective. But we want to get to where we are playing Aggie Basketball consistently, and that first half was anything but Aggie Basketball ... You can't play good teams on the road without having that disciplined mindset.

"We talked about it at the half, and I thought we responded and played Aggie Basketball in the second half. We were solid, disciplined defensively; we forced some tough shots ... we also just executed better offensively. We'd like to have some of those rim attacks back that were point blank, but that happens, and I thought we just had a better mindset in the second half."

  • WBB: Aggies (1-2) at Montana State (3-0) 1 pm Sunday 11/17
The scrappy Aggie team that put a scare into #24 Stanford on just a few days ago was nowhere to be found today as MSU handily beat the Ags 78-59 in a game that was never close.

The Ags never looked energized from start to finish. The Bobcats pounded the Aggies on the boards 45-30 and that included 18 offensive boards that produced 17 2nd chance points compared to 1 2nd chance point for the Ags. The TO bugaboo that has been a problem for the Ags in recent years was there today as the Aggies turned the ball over 21 times which included 11 from their PG's and 5 from Sabel.

    Ags fall 79-65.

The Aggies played much better in the second half after a poor first half and managed to cut the lead to 6 with 7:36 to go. TY ended up with 26 after struggling in the first half but the Aggies had no answer to Stanford's 7'1 post, Maxim Raynaud, who had 33 points and 14 rebounds.

Sac HC coaches have never been shy about boasting about how good they were destined to become. I remember Sochor responding to a comment by them saying that pretty soon Sac would be so good that the Davis game would no longer be a rivalry. Sochor replied, "You have to beat us first before you can call it a rivalry." Touché!

I also remember their HC, John Volek, telling the media that Sac was going to become the Florida State of the west and, when that happened, they wouldn't be playing the likes of Davis again.

    41-23 Stanford at the half.

Rough half of basketball for the Aggies: only shooting 31% overall, 3-10 from 3, 4-9 from the line and out rebounded 28-13. I wouldn't want to be in the locker room with Les right now...

Thanks for the write up, Jdur. I was happy to see that most of the students stayed throughout the game also. That's a big change from what we usually see. We really need to build a great, student fan base.

Please use a couple of paragraph breaks though so your post would be easier to read for the rest of us. You can still edit it and break it into more reader friendly paragraphs.

Sac will be like a wounded animal fighting for its life next Saturday which makes them a very dangerous team. Their season has been a huge disappointment and many of their fans are calling for the heads of the coaching staff. They have speed and athleticism at the skill positions with the ability to bust a big play and they will be playing with their hair on fire. They have nothing to lose and a win over their biggest rival would be the highlight of their disappointing season. We need to be ready to match their intensity and play smart, error free football. A lot is on the line for the Aggies...

Well, we damn near had a Miracle Game #2 for the history books. Really proud of the Ags not rolling over and then throwing a big scare into the Cats with that dramatic comeback. Great Aggie crowd that actually got into the game and finally made some noise. Big turnout of MSU fans. The game had a playoff atmosphere.

We shot ourselves in the foot with the TO's and the punt return breakdown in the first half and Miles was under relentless pressure and yet he still stayed poised. It looked like we were going to get trounced early in the 3rd but the Ags simply would not quit. Take away those TO's which gave the Cats great field position and we're right there with them or possibly even ahead.

This game showed me that we can hang with the elite teams and that we are deserving of a high seed in the playoffs.

PSU 3 Griz 0 at the half. Montana's OL is being dominated by the Vikings just like the Ags dominated them.

Thanks for joining our modest forum and sharing your knowledge and thoughts about the Bobcats and this game. It's been great to read your posts. Please spread the word to the Bobcst fans that they are always more than welcome to join into the conversation here on AST. I hope both teams bring their A-games today and we get to witness a good, hard fought, injury free contest between two great football programs.
