I missed watching this one. Jen has really got this team coming together nicely. They're looking like they could be title contenders.
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
    From the Sac Bee:

To clarify, the $54 million the SAC-12 has mentioned is not one lump sum that has been raised or secured but a 10-year commitment from local businesses to commit to the NIL efforts should Sacramento State gain entry into a higher-level conference in the FBS such as the revamped Pac-12 or the Mountain West.

Sacramento State in September announced that it would build a new football stadium to replace 55-year-old Hornet Stadium. That project would not be completed until the 2028 season, and the Hornets could not enter another conference in football without updated football and basketball facilities.

  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
    From the Sac Bee:

UNLV offensive coordinator Brennan Marion is a finalist and well may be the leading candidate for the vacant Sacramento State football post, The Sacramento Bee has learned through two sources with direct knowledge of the situation. Marion is a hot name in college football, with a wide-open offensive attack he coordinates that goes by “Go-Go” having helped boost a sagging Running Rebels program into a nationally ranked one. No. 24 UNLV is 10-3 and will play Cal in the L.A. Bowl at 6 p.m. Wednesday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.

Marion did not make the trip with the Rebels as he aspires to become a head college coach for the first time. He is one of an army of people who have expressed interest in the post at Sacramento State, which closes the listing on Wednesday.

It always kind of bugs me when coaches take players with them when they move on to bigger programs. I'm sure Oregon has plenty of NIL money to offer also so that probably figures into it also.
  • 2025 Football Recruiting
I curious to know if we actively try and to get any of our graduating seniors with eligibility left, into grad school here? We did that for Nico Rocak in basketball. Do we do try to get any of our football players to play their final year as a grad student here?

Do you have a link for following the FCS transfer portal?
  • WBB: Arizona State (5-4) at the Aggies (5-4 & 2-0) 2 pm Sunday 12/15
Permissive officiating. The chemistry of Arizona State seemed off watching them down the stretch.abridge

14 of the 16 players on ASU's roster are transfers from other schools. I don't know how you can have good team chemistry when you build a team with 90% transfers. It takes time for players to play together and get to know each other personally and care about each other. Unfortunately, this is the new landscape of college sports where a lot of players are chasing the money that colleges are throwing at them.
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
Sac is banking on the fact that the Sacramento media market is so big. It is larger than many of the teams that have signed recently with the PAC12 and Sacramento doesn't have an FBS program yet. They have poor facilities and that's a big problem for them though.

However, they believe that the PAC12 will want to be in the Sacramento media market and are taking the approach that "if we build it, they will come." The problem is that they don't have any big donors who are going to put up that kind of money out front if Sac doesn't have an absolute guarantee of an official invite to the PAC12.

The only way that I see them possibly getting an invite to the PAC12 is if the SAC12 Committee can convince the PAC12 that they have the big donors in line who will fund the cost of new facilities and the expenses of moving to the FBS. Even then, the new facilities would need to be built before the PAC12 is going to give them an invite.
  • WBB: Arizona State (5-4) at the Aggies (5-4 & 2-0) 2 pm Sunday 12/15
Aggies 57 Arizona State 50 in a tough, defensive struggle. First win ever for the Aggies over ASU and a signature win for the Aggies beating a BIG12 team.
  • Quarterfinals Week 16: UC Davis (11-2) @ South Dakota (10-2)
That's a great little video by the Aggie Pride Podcast guys.
  • Quarterfinals Week 16: UC Davis (11-2) @ South Dakota (10-2)
Agree. I think we were just as good if not better that SD but we just made too many mistakes. It was a crazy game and it feels like we missed a golden opportunity to advance.

We lose an awful lot of very good players so I really don't know what to expect next year. I hope we can reload get to the playoffs again next year instead of taking several years to rebuild in order to make another run.
  • MBB: at UC Davis at Sacramento State (2-7), Saturday, Dec. 14, 7:00 pm
Ags hang on and win 69-62. It seemed like the Ags played "tired" coming off finals but I'll take a win over the Hornets in any way, shape or form.
  • MBB: at UC Davis at Sacramento State (2-7), Saturday, Dec. 14, 7:00 pm
Jesus...the Ags are getting completely dominated...behind 12-1 in the first 3 minutes...the Ags are obviously not mentally ready to play...
  • MBB: at UC Davis at Sacramento State (2-7), Saturday, Dec. 14, 7:00 pm
Well I sure hope the Ags run the Hornets out of their Nest tonight. That would help get me out of my Aggie football loss post-game funk!
  • Quarterfinals Week 16: UC Davis (11-2) @ South Dakota (10-2)
You know the team is VERY disappointed: 5 TO's by the offense and several glaring blown pass coverages by the defense against a very good football on the road yet we only got beat by 2 TD's. Heck, we even had more total yardage.

You would honestly think we should have gotten blown out with all those mistakes plus losing Lan for half the game which tells me that this was a big, missed opportunity. We are every bit as good, if not better, than South Dakota but we shot ourselves in the foot today over and over. That's what is most disappointing.
  • Jason Eck leaving Idaho for New Mexico
Not a chance. He has publicly stated that's he is here for the long run. He's an Aggie at heart and he took this job despite having other opportunities to earn more money. He also has a young family and he knows that Davis is a great place for families with kids. He's going to be here for quite a while.
