• 2023 Week 7: UC Davis @ Weber State
Had Weber had a qb that could throw the ball, we would have lost. Special teams needs help. Like I’ve said before, we’re a middle of the pack Big Sky team.
  • 2023 Week 7: UC Davis @ Weber State
Embarrassing. Sad. We can’t seem to put together a second half. Out foxed again from half time adjustments?
  • 2023 Week 7: UC Davis @ Weber State
I think Tompkins is still guarding his shoulder. On that last run he chose to go out of bounds instead of turning it up field. He’s also being worked too much. He’s going to get hurt again with that many carries.

Texas a and m commerce maybe playing their best game of the year, hanging with incarnate word 11-14 early in the 4th.

Thanks, i figured it out so deleted my question. Maybe I’ll have my wife rewind it, lol.
  • 2023 Big Sky Scores (Season Thread)
EWU 34 ISU 7 1 minute left in the half.
  • 2023 Week 7: UC Davis @ Weber State
The Weber boards seem to think their starting QB Weisser is still out from an injury, and apparently their backup guys have very limited game experience. They are really down on their offense, but seem to think their defense, as well as special teams, is stout.
They have averaged 19 points a game, and average 130 yards rushing and 130 in the air. Tomorrow is their homecoming.
We are averaging 26 points per game, with 157 on the ground and 233 through the air. Interestingly, our opponents average points is 26.17. Man that 0.17 has killed us, lol.

We seem to be right where we need to be at the half, at least in a position to win, then go flat on offense. I thought our defense went flat in the second half as well against Montana. Are we getting out coached from our opponents half time adjustments?
  • 2023 Week 7: UC Davis @ Weber State
And Bob is taking the Aggies by 14. In my book Weber is right up there with Montana and EWU, they usually have the Ags number, even when they are down.

“ AGGIES over WEBER STATE ... Two perennial Big Sky powers who are both off to a slow start. Both are trying to salvage their dwindling playoff chances, which will virtually disappear with a loss. Weber State has major problems on offense. The Aggie defense is loaded for bear. Or, in this case, Wildcats. Take the Ags by 14.”

  • FCS Regular Season Polls
Well, unfortunately for the Aggie faithful, we don’t deserve to be in the top 25. Maybe we can claw our way back.
  • 2023 Week 6: Montana (4-1) @ UC Davis (3-2)
We kept going to that screen pass to the left side and the Montana defenders read it every time except when TT ran it once.
I could only catch part of the game on a small lobby TV but there was a HS coach sitting next to me. He told me he watched the EWU game and predicted LL was going to get hurt. His comment was that you just can’t work a RB like that without consequences. He was convinced that LL’s injury was precipitated by a coaching decision.

Sorry fellas, we deserve to lose.

Need a miracle just to tie.
  • 2023 Week 6: Montana (4-1) @ UC Davis (3-2)
Offense totally flat. Montana has taken complete control.
  • 2023 Week 6: Montana (4-1) @ UC Davis (3-2)

Fairly even. I was really surprised that Hawk didn’t punt on that last possession. Who wants it more?
  • 2023 Week 6: Montana (4-1) @ UC Davis (3-2)
Family stuff so it’s looking like I’m missing the game.
  • 2023 Week 6: Montana (4-1) @ UC Davis (3-2)
Somebody posted that LL won’t be back until after the bye. My read is that TT will be back today.
  • 2023 Week 6: Montana (4-1) @ UC Davis (3-2)

Good points. It didn’t occur to me that they were including non-big sky team statistics in with big sky numbers.

“Here are five things to watch in the game, which will be televised on the Montana Television Network, streamed on ESPN+ and broadcast on the Grizzly Sports Radio Network.

    Offensive approach
Montana has had its most offensive success with a run-heavy attack keyed by quarterback Clifton McDowell. If he starts for the second week in a row remains to be seen. So too does the decision of whether he plays the majority of the snaps and how much Sam Vidlak will rotate in.

    Defensive adaptability
UC Davis might be missing running back Lan Larison, who is leading the Big Sky in rushing yards per game but suffered a knee injury two weeks ago. His backup, Trent Tompkins, also injured a shoulder last week and didn’t return. The status is unknown for each of them.

    Turnovers
UC Davis quarterback Miles Hastings earned first-team All-Big Sky honors last season but has struggled early on this year. He’s thrown six touchdowns and been intercepted five times. He’s completing 62.9 percent of his attempts for 192.6 yards per game, sixth in the Big Sky.

    Penalties
The Griz have committed 31 accepted penalties for 286 yards through five games, an average of 57.2 penalty yards per game. Their 31 penalties are the third most in the Big Sky. Their nine penalties last week were their most in a game this season. UC Davis has the least penalties committed (20) and the fewest penalty yards per game (35.6) in the Big Sky.

    Special teams
The Griz returned just one punt, for 5 yards, on seven punts by opposing teams the past two weeks. They didn’t return any kickoffs against Northern Arizona, which had five touchbacks. Their two kickoff returns on four kickoffs by Idaho State, went for 15 and 17 yards.”
