Is there THAT much of a demand for NIL merchandise ? I don't know. I just think it's kind of creepy/weird to want UCD stuff with a player's likeness or name on it. I see the student-athletes as private citizens who just happen to play college sports sometimes. When the game ends so does their accessibility to the public, aside from their family and friends. That's why I'm a little creeped out when fans seek them out. I understand this a way for them to get some of the money others are making off of them but still..a little strange.

I suppose if you consider the student-athletes to be professionals this makes a bit more sense, but they're not professionals.

Questions: If Elijah Pepper dressed up as Mr. Pickles for Halloween would Peter Piper pick him ?

If #24 from the baseball team were to yell would that be a [Bryan] Green emission ?

If the women's basketball team bought a box of 13 donuts, would #23 (Victoria Baker) assume they were all for her ?

If #7 on the lacrosse team (Paige Davis) were substituted in for another player during the game would they be trading spaces ?

And how the fudge do you do NLI gear with equestrian ? The participants do not have uniforms with their names and numbers. Besides, the horses are the real athletes.

But it's better buying it at the game if you can, then it's a souvenir of the game, even though it's the same stuff you would buy online.

I still have a UCD baseball jersey + windbreaker I bought years ago at a pre-game garage sale. Best souvenirs.

In my post UCD was the patsy.

The division of home and road games is always about money. If UCD were willing to pay someone else what it took to get them to fly in they could have six home games, but they have at least 1 game each year where they play someone who on paper is supposed to squash them (Oregon State) to get a payout. We can say all we want that it's for the players' experience but it's all about the money. That payout likely easily trumps what revenue UCD could have gotten from hosting so there you are. Until UCD stops with the patsy games they will likely always have fewer home games.

They have a tiny little ballpark though. How they get Ohio State to come play a series in Bakersfield is baffling.

Bakersfield has lights for baseball. Lol

In the D-II days Bakersfield basketball was an all-star team of D-I wash-outs who either weren't skilled enough or good enough students to go anywhere else. In other words there wasn't much to differentiate it from Bakersfield junior college.

I never witnessed men's bball beat them. Have a very vivid memory of the Aggies frittering away a late lead and a blocked 3-point attempt by Brandon Laird at the buzzer

losing to Cal is more impressive than barely beating Stanford ? I'm good with Sac State losing all their remaining games leading up to the Causeway Classic.

It would really suck if UCD lost a football recruit to UCSB or UCI lol.

I think the Eagles blow and they will lose. BTW red football fields are stupid. It's like they piggybacked on Boise State's idea of weird-colored fields. Pity EWU didn't follow through on their idea about eliminating their athletic program

Cal Poly @ Portland State gets cancelled or moved to SLO due to soccer and pot (a pot soccer match ?) drawing more interest.

Northern Colorado @ Idaho State is cancelled due to lack of interest.

Eastern Washington forfeits due to something drug/cheating-related. UCD instead hosts a dog show on the field.

Apparently Portland State was mad at North American (a university I did not know existed) for misspelling Oregon (Orogen) on their website.

I think whoever typed "Orogen" was either watching or using "Pineapple Express" lol.

UNC is bad at just about everything. UCD usually does well against them in baseball and you know what that means.

I was trying to think of a snappy new name for Sac State but the surrounding area doesn't inspire much. Maybe Cal State-Newton.
