• Sac State to get a New Stadium
I don't think you are offensive. I said you sound offended by some frustrated diehard alums.
  • Sac State to get a New Stadium
And when you are done with your studies and no longer have any official role with the school you shift to being an external customer.yolohw

You may have a hard time understanding the concept of an Alumni Association...whereas, the university reaches out to graduates with the "Aggie For Life" slogan.
The University wants to cultivate a community of people who care about their alma mater. And so should the Athletic Department.
  • Sac State to get a New Stadium
Just a personal opinion, and an unpopular one I'm sure- but I don't think we really have the right to any input on future facilities or the direction of the athletic department.yolohw

This is Division 1 athletics. Everyone has an opinion, and will continue to. The opinions will get louder with time and perceived inactivity by the athletic department.
  • Sac State to get a New Stadium
These kinds of posts sound like an athletic department insider (employee of a public university) has some hurt feelings.

Look, this 'ain't your front porch. I am not your guest when I attend games at my alma mater.

lol Rocko gets paid the same whether he Tweets or not. His inactivity so far says a lot....
  • Pac-12 set to add Boise, 3 other MW schools
To maybe temper the disappointment of Sac getting their stadium....

We got our upgrade-to-modern stadium with a little capacity bump 17 years ago.

Today they announced their upgrade-to-modern stadium with a little capacity bump. This doesn't mean they are leaving the Big Sky- in fact, the attendance number of 25k means they are planning on falling back into the BSC when all this dust settles. Time will tell.
  • Pac-12 set to add Boise, 3 other MW schools
Athletic department wasted 10 years patting themselves on the back after taking 30 years getting the stadium built . Edwards Center was a nearly a decade late.

    ....and here we are.

Sac has taken forever as well, I'm sure their fans won't argue that.

Kevin Blue had a fire under his a**. I miss that cat. Blue and Hawk did some things, didn't they....
  • Football crowd participation ideas
Find one undergrad, JUST ONE, that knows football and is passionate about it. That's the student section MC. Teach the students how to make noise on defense, teach them what the important downs are. Tell them the visiting team hates them and their family, and that their brains can't function if its too loud behind them....their boys want to beat the hell out of our boys, and we are here to help our boys (that type of stuff). This can be done in 2 minutes before kickoff.SochorField

Heck, if they can't find anyone, have a couple of the Redshirt players do this 5-10 mins before kickoff. Students would get fired up for it.
  • Transfer Portal 2024
The NIL era is getting interesting, highlighted by Matt Sluka at UNLV....Is guys quitting on their teams after 3 games to redshirt and enter the portal a new thing this year, or are we just now hearing about it? I believe a guy at USC (Bear Alexander) just announced the same thing....Now I see another UNLV player is doing the same thing?

These UNLV guys start 3-0 with wins vs. disappointing Houston and Kansas teams (and our buddies at Utah Tech), and now believe they should get "paid" because they market value has increased?
  • 2024 Week 5: Idaho (3-1) @ UC Davis (3-1)
Ouch. Like I mentioned elsewhere...those guys love a big, quiet crowd.

Give the students a basic understanding of college football and its importance to the university (as a money-maker and prestige-enhancer), and the importance of the student section & the insane impact it can make. The moment a student section knows it is impacting the game, it is hard to stop.
This can be done in a welcome rally or at some point during move-in.

During the game: As the offense is coming on the field for change of downs "Go Ags on 3....." x3
There are so many easy things that can be done. Presently the students don't even know what noise to make on defense ("OOOOOOOH"). Years of college football research/science has proven this is the loudest sound a human can make (j/k just made that up). I feel silly even explaining this.....

Honestly, the community is gonna community......the students and Band(uh) make the experience. The community matches that energy.

    2. Securing funding and approvals to build a new, state-of-the-art football stadium that seats at least 25,000 attendees.PortlandAggie

Easy-peasy complete tear-down / rebuild....NBD....and when does this need to be complete?
And then there's the HS gym.....What is the SAC-12 committee, fans? This is crazy

Its easier for Sac to move right now, as they can jam 22,000 into their erector set bleachers (and hope it doesn't collapse).
  • 2024 Week 5: Idaho (3-1) @ UC Davis (3-1)
Running game is the biggest disappointment for me as well. I was looking at stats today. Lan is getting his carries (most in the BSC), but pedestrian yards per.

With 1/3 of the season done, here's to hoping OC has figured some things out.

I seem to remember complaints on this board regarding the team's "offensive identity" the first time around with Plough.....
  • Pac-12 set to add Boise, 3 other MW schools
We may find out soon that Davis and Sac were really never in any of these discussions......
  • 2024 Week 5: Idaho (3-1) @ UC Davis (3-1)
This is the one where we all find out if the Aggies are any good. I believe the Ags either get rolled, or its a nail-biter.

Dropping a spot in STATS T-25 to #14 after a win says a little about the quality of that last W. I don't think anyone is sold on the offense so far.
  • 2024 Week 5: Idaho (3-1) @ UC Davis (3-1)
After the Cal game, the offensive staff has had 3 games to get things going in the right direction. And I really mean Plough getting the lay of the land and getting his feet under him.
I guess we will see where the offensive staff has us pretty early in the game on Saturday.

The offenses of the recent past may have put up +50 on Utah Tech.
  • Pac-12 set to add Boise, 3 other MW schools
Is this guy going to DO something or just keep tweeting nonsense? This is the second one.....What's the actual plan? Any official statement?

It’s kinda funny. He’s asking us what we are asking him

  • 2024 Week 4: Utah Tech (0-3) @ UC Davis (2-1)
Band feels smaller....but school hasn't started, so? I feel Band-uh was higher energy. The musicianship has always been great, and I've always loved the Band-Uh/Band.

As far as yell leaders, I couldn't hear one in the student section, but I wasn't close during game action. The students made no noise on defense and knew no cheers. Brace yourselves my fellow alums, but we were dead-silent as well.

All fixable stuff....some years have been better than others. I'm pretty convinced there's no science to the thing....
  • 2024 Week 4: Utah Tech (0-3) @ UC Davis (2-1)
UC Davis Health Stadium is a relaxing and beautiful place to watch a game with the fam.

Plough has made the point twice now in press conferences that our crowd is not making things hard for our opponents.
That was the most silent 14,500 people I've ever experienced. If I'm a visiting player I'm LOVING it.

This is definitely a Davis culture thing (and a California thing at large- the students at Cal didn't have a clue either for what its worth)...6,000-7,000 students in attendance that don't understand football (or care about it).

This can be changed with rallies and orientation activities, but damn, the silence is DEAFENING.
