  • PAC vs MW
UNLV recently recommitted to MW and declined PAC 12 bid because of this.
  • PAC vs MW
I think at the moment MW has a better media contract because of markets it is in: Bay Area, Las Vegas, Chicago (Football), Phoenix (non-football)… The only major market in new PAC 12-ish will be San Diego, with the Bay Area for basketball if St. Mary’s joins.that said who knows were this goes.

I admire his tenacity to improve the “student experience.” Most administrators are pulling away from that. However, he seems to be out over his skis. I maintain that this is a case of grow or die for Sac football.

Granted I was not a math major, but $4.2 million does not equal $100 million very quickly.
The renovation of the stadium seems to be a far cry from the earlier images and more like an expansion of the erector set they have now. This says nothing of the other facilities. My daughter went on the recruiting trips a couple years ago and the deciding factors for her and most others: Off field facilities (weight room, athlete dining halls, athlete lounge/study hall, etc), practice facilities, winning program, stability (Will the coach who recruited me be there in two years?), and education. You are only in the stadium once a week, but the rest of those are every day. Sac has a lot of catching up to do.

The first “phase” is $2.5 M? That is not a phase, but a small project for a university campus. This seems like a desperate effort to deliver something.
I give Dr. Wood credit for making waves and getting attention for it though. I really think his “FBS or Bust” statement says it all. If they cannot get FBS money the program is on the block.

Could it be we are interpreting Dr. Wood all wrong regarding the FCS to FBS transition? Could it mean a transition from Financially Challenged Situation to Financially Broke Situation?
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
Been silently watching and reading this story with great interest.
It would be great to see both Causeway teams go FBS. However, it is just as likely that Sac loses football as it is to get to FBS. They have very limited options since neither of the West Coast conference seem at all interested. Seemingly, the Pac 12 and MW have both said no thanks to adding a financially challenged school with second rate facilities.
Dr. Wood may have started this with great, albeit naive, intentions. But at this point, he is dragging out this story as a means of portraying accomplishment and distracting from the major financial issues Sac State is facing.

One of the Aggie coaches was on campus at Cardinal Newman HS today. CNHS is the closest thing the North Coast has to a football power house and has a very talented group of seniors, especially on offense. This is the school that produced Aggie QB Randy White.
  • Week 1: UC Davis @ San Diego State
New to posting, but reading these boards for years. I went to UC Davis long enough ago to have seen the Ags be a dominant and consistent program. I still go to a game or two a year, but it has been tough to watch and not left my kids with a great impression of the school. For the first time in years I am excited about the new season. I know it will take time, but at least there is a sense that things will get better.
