Sounds like they caught onto us. Though probably you can avoid it by browsing in a private window.
  • BYE week
I wish SDSU had a bye this weekend instead of the travesty of last night :(
  • Up to 5 more games to be televised on ESPN3
ESPN3 is produced by a Big West crew that doesn't travel out of SoCal.

The reason why we always get the ESPN2/U wildcard games is those are produced by a different ESPN crew, and ESPN is probably compensating for our lack of ESPN3 broadcasts a little.

That's my understanding from chatter on the Big West Boards anyway.

We may have started the push a tad early. We'd have to sustain this rate for almost 48 hours to win

There were several fakes as well. You can see a guy starting to run a sweep on the Doss 1-handed catch replay.

Then again I just assumed any sweep was part of the fly scheme, with no specific requirement on how the QB should move.
  • Will the Fans Ever Really Come Back?
It's too early to panic. No student currently at UC Davis has any memory of Football being good (the current seniors saw 2, 2, and 3 DI wins per season) and two home blowouts over schools they've never heard of aren't going to reverse a bad image.

The vast disparity between student attendance last game and this game suggests to me that there was a marketing push for UND that we didn't have here -- perhaps because ICA felt they spent their "hype capital", or that they were worried about UCD getting blown out. But I'd expect higher student attendance for Homecoming at least and probably the Poly game.

Let's not forget that MBB and Soccer can fill the stands for big games and WBB often leads the conference in attendance.

There's an inherent advantage to the Wildcat because it's 11v11 vs 10v11 and defenses haven't prepared for it as much. All other things being equal I still would expect it to be better than say a power I in terms of obvious run formations

TD Eags, still the possibility of a shootout

I wanna shut down and retry that last drive

    Ags up 7-6

Wildcat continues to be effective short yardage situations

    Never mind, got it now

The Weber game gives those predictions credibility. Obviously there were some lapses and correctable mistakes that could have made that a closer game, but the Ags have the capability of being blown out.x

On the other hand I don't think it's reasonable for any FCS team to assume they'll do better against Davis than SDSU did at home. I think we will give up some big plays against the Eags O but it's all a question of how many and whether the Ags can answer.

2-3 years ago I would not have predicted that we'd be having serious conversations about reaching student section capacity so soon. Regarding "how", it's probably the same procedure they've used to turn students away at one or two ESPN basketball games. I'm guessing it's a judgement call to close the student gate (there's only one I think) once the AP/general admit section looks full.

Do we know how significant the capacity figure is? Like it could be just a fire code calculation and not an actual number of seats. Or it could not include endzones.

Either way, 10k is an amazing turnout and enough to get the stadium rocking.
  • Favorite university to visit for away games ?
I've been to Aggie games at SDSU, Sac, Nevada, and Stanford and I vote Reno as the best experience at least for football. Their gameday traditions/pageantry were quite something and the tailgaters were friendly. And of course there's plenty of entertainment to be had in town.

I'm trying to remember, has CJ always been overthrowing receivers at Davis? I seem to remember he won at least one game as a starting QB; it's not like he hasn't been able to move the ball in his career.

Think we'll continue to see that wildcat formation with Spencer? It looked to have middling results and was called in a lot of short-yardage situations.

It would be interesting to see if we could sustain a drive with it to really wear the clock down.
  • Week 5: North Dakota @ UC Davis
Probably doesn't help that our offense is so fast. Even when things are going well the D doesn't get much rest between opposing drives
