We played really good defense in the first 15 minutes of the game but couldn't sustain it and couldn't get stops in the second half when we needed them. You can't beat many teams when they score 93 points.

There were 3 pivotal moments in the game that really hurt the Ags too. The first was a terrible foul call on Koehler as he was blocking out on a USF FT. The replay showed that the USF player simply fell on his own. That gave the Don's 2 one and ones in a row. They missed the second FT on the second foul, got the rebound and hit a 3 which equaled a 5 point play. The second was the technical foul on Les which ended up with USF scoring hitting 2 FT's and then a 3 for another 5 point possession. Lastly, was Koehler picking up his 4th foul and then mouthing off and got his 5th foul with a technical which resulted in more FT's for the Dons. Those plays accounted for 10 points.

On the upside: Manjon broke out of his shooting slump and scored 20 points on 8-11 shooting. The Ags also continued to shoot well from the FT line and were 22-24 today which is outstanding. Joe had his fourth 20 point game by scoring 22 today. We never quit and played hard all the way to the buzzer.

Note: I'm not sure if they counted Manjon's 3 at the buzzer or not...Scott Marsh said they corrected the score and counted it but it's not showing up on the official box. I it was good...then the final was 93-87.

Fouls are going to be a problem for us in the second half trying to defend their bigs: Koehler has 3, Neufeld 2 and Pepper 2.

We came out with good energy and great defense and went up by 12 in the first 12 minutes. Then we lost focus, turned the ball over and the Dons took advantage of the TO's and scored in transition. We are also have big problems with their interior size.

The bullcrap foul on Koehler while they were shooting FT's didn't help things as they made a FT, then got to shoot more FT's, got the rebound on a miss and scored a 3...5 point play.... The replay showed the USF player fell on his won...really bad call.

Missed layups and open looks from 2 feet have happened way to much as a team this season. We are really missing a interior attack. Stobbart doesn't seem comfortable against physical players in the paint and does not shoot with confidence in the paint. I keep waiting for her to break out.

Today the Ags just seemed to be out of sync and not getting after it with the intensity that they need to win close games. We have often started slow this year and then rallied from big deficits. Today we started fast and then lost the big lead in the 3rd quarter. It's hard to figure this team out...something is just not clicking...

The Ags blew a 12 point lead in the 3rd quarter. This is not a sharp performance overall. They'll lose this game playing like this.

17-12 Ags at the end of the first quarter.

Did anybody go to the signing day event and hear Hawk talk about these recruits?

Looks like Del Real had an offer from San Diego also and took visits to quite a few other schools. Good size...maybe a sleeper like Doss was...

You've gotta love watching the highlights of OL Princeton Toki 5'11 330. He moves pretty good for his size and just pancakes a few unfortunate defenders...

Outside of the obvious, 5 star, blue chip players the ratings don't mean much. It will be interesting though to see how they rate this 2020 class.

I noticed that too. Joe was just stunned and Koehler could see that the shot was going to be good as the ball descended. It was fun watching Joe running away and getting caught by the celebration mob.

Well that was one for the Aggie ages! It was a pretty small crowd. Too bad the students were gone. This would have been a great one for them to have seen. It was fantastic to see Joe hit the shot of his life and one of the great buzzer beaters ever in Aggie history. This was a much needed win for the Aggies.

We were totally out of sync in the first half and LMU was shooting lights out but this team just kept grinding away and won it primarily on their defense in the second half. We forced 19 TO's and Gonzalez got hot and helped us cut into the lead. Koehler was great defending their bigs in the paint and he drained some critical FT's. Unfortunately, Manjon's shooting struggles continued. He needs a few shots to fall to get his confidence back.

Fun night in the Pavilion. Now, if we could upset San Francisco on Saturday...

  • WBB: Aggies (4-5) @ Minnesota (8-1) 11 am PT Sunday 12/15
I was only able to listen to part of the game. Greg Wong commented that Jen Gross was not happy with some of the officiating. The Ags were whistled for 23 fouls which resulted in Minnesota shooting 26-31 at the line whereas the Golden Gophers were tagged with 13 fouls and the Aggies only shot 6-11 from the line. That was the difference in the game. Minnesota probably benefited from a little bit of home cooking in front of a crowd of 4673 fans.
