  • WBB: Aggies (4-5) @ Minnesota (8-1) 11 am PT Sunday 12/15
The Aggies cut a 15 point Minnesota lead down to 4 in the final minutes but the Golden Gophers prevailed 76-67 by outscoring the Aggies 26 to 6 from the FT line. Great effort by the Aggies today in front of a crowd of 5000.

    That's good news.

Defense kept the Ags in the game in the first half while the offense was ice cold. At one point we were 2-21. Then we took a 6 point lead in the second half but our defense began breaking down and the offense remained ice cold. Manjon had a game he'd rather forget...1-16 shooting and Mooney, who's been hot lately, was only 1-8 from 3 and most of those misses were off line and not even close. I've said it before, great defense can keep you in the game but when you shoot 31% you are not going to beat many teams at the D1 level.

We've seen a lot of these type of games in the last few couple of years where we just can not score with any kind of consistency. I was getting my hopes up after the win over NIU and our efforts against Cal and Utah but the offense went missing again and we added another game to the L column.

Les skipped the normal radio, post-game interview...probably wasn't fun to be in the locker room with him after this loss...

Pepper is showing why he starts...6 boards and 2 steals...

Outstanding defense by both teams. I like the fact that, even though we started off 2-21, we kept playing tough defense. Les likes to say that offense is fickle but defense travels...got that right tonight...

Good grief...the Ags start off shooting 1-16 for 6%! Unbelievable...

No, UC San Diego joins the Big West next year along with Cal State Bakersfield. The University of San Diego, whom the Aggies play tonight, is a member of the West Coast Conference. Then there's San Diego State also and they are in the Mountain West Conference. It gets kind of confusing...

  • MBB: Northern Illinois (6-3) at UCD (3-7) 5 pm Saturday 12/7
We have a tough stretch of games coming up but we've shown that we are capable of playing well against good competition. We are @ San Diego, vs Loyola Marymount, @ San Francisco, @ New Mexico and vs Holy Names before conference play begins. I'd like to see us go at least 3-2 in these next 5 games. SD, LMU and Holy Names are all games we should have a good chance of winning if we play well. San Francisco will be very tough and New Mexico will be a huge challenge.

Just for perspective, our previous 11 opponents are 60-38 combined and 8 of them have winning records some we've played so good competition. Also, Sac state is 6-1...Sac's had it going in football and basketball this year...

  • MBB: Northern Illinois (6-3) at UCD (3-7) 5 pm Saturday 12/7

Against the Lumberjacks, Mooney finished with a career-high 35 points in the finale of the Aggies' eight-game road swing, Thirty-one of his points were scored after halftime; that is the most scored by any UC Davis player, in one half, in the program's Division I era. That night, he also finished with a career-high 12 field goals, seven rebounds and five threes — both season highs.

Mooney's 35 points is the second-highest total since the Aggies joined the Big West Conference, trailing only Corey Hawkins and his 40-point effort at Hawai'i in 2013.

To say Mooney was on fire throughout the second half UC Davis' game at NAU is an understatement: He hit 11 of 13 from the floor (.846), 5 of 6 from three (.833) and all four shots at the line (100 pct.) throughout his 12:48 on the court.

Three days later against Northern Illinois, he led all players with 17 points on 6 of 10 shooting overall (.600), 3 of 6 from three (.500) and connected on both attempts at the line (100 pct.).

For the week, Mooney scored 52 points — 34 percent of the Aggies' offense — shot .692 from the floor (18-26), .571 from behind the arc (8-14) and 100 pct. from the stripe (8-8) to help UC Davis sweep last week's games.

I'm in. Thanks so much, Matt, for working out the kinks and getting this set up for us. Hopefully, our Aggie Sports fans will get this funded quickly before the upcoming deadline so we can keep this forum alive and well. Let's get'er done!

    Go Ags!
  • Playoffs
Degrees are optional at Sac...
  • Playoffs
I don't think there was any rain at all during the game though and Sac is on semesters so they can't blame low student turnout on finals either. After nearly 20,000 at the Causeway game, this must be very disappointing for Sac.
  • WBB: Aggies (3-5) at Northern Arizona (2-4) 11 am PT Sunday 11/8
Second half defense and 3 point shooting by the Ags was the difference in this game. Tough road schedule ahead: at Minnesota, Pepperdine and Stanford...yikes...
