We'll have our hands full with the Wildcats. They have been getting into post-season tournaments with regularity and are perennially the best or one of the best in the Big Sky Conference. The Big Sky is not as strong as the Big West in basketball so that's helps them pile up wins and get into post-season play easier than if played in a better conference. That said, they would probably be able to compete pretty well with the better Big West teams.

They will have a small size advantage over the Ags but they are not a huge team so I hope we will be able to compete well inside and on the boards. Moneke, White, Adenrele and Henn will need to play well on the defensive boards especially if Garrison Goode is still out with an ankle or foot injury.

As usual, our defensive intensity will be the key to winning the game. When our defense is playing well it ignites our offense.

Wednesday games results:

Buffalo 85 Alaska Anchorage 79 - The Bulls got 36 points and 8 rebounds from guard Blake Hamilton and move on to the semifinals.

Nevada 82 Oakland 78 - The Wolf Pack came back from 16 down at halftime, the largest halftime deficit comeback in the 39 year history of the Shootout, to beat the Golden Grizzlies.

I'm thinking you're crafty from previous experience!! 8-)

Your right, 6th, we got the benefit of the draw in this tournament. Oakland and Nevada are both tough and either would be a tough matchup for the Ags. We'll definitely be challenged in this tournament. I don't get CBSSN darn it!

Tennessee State was the best team in Santa Clara and we played them tough. They are now 4-0 and ranked #20 in the first mid-major poll. The Ags got 1 vote...maybe Coach Les was feeling a little biased...

I haven't heard anything. He did have a boot on his right foot and was in street clothes at the Golden One Center. I saw a picture on Coach Les twitter account of the team having an early Thanksgiving in Anchorage and he was with the team so, hopefully, he'll be available.

This one was got close near the end. MSU cut the lead to 5 with just over a minute left but good FT shooting by the Ags sealed the deal at crunch time. The Ags were maintaining a 9-12 point lead up to the 2:30 mark when Jen Gross got teed up and the Bobcats began to creep closer.

Rachel Nagel led the Aggies with 21 followed by Morgan Bartsch with 17 and Dani Nafekh had 13. The Ags are still not doing a good job on the defensive boards as they gave up 17 offensive rebounds. Still a good win for the Lady Ags.

I appreciate this article very much and think Gallaudet did a nice job of writing it. Why? Because he does a very good job of conveying the human and emotional side of what has happened to Gould and how it has affected his wife and his players too. Too often in college sports, and really all levels of sports, we hear little more than what amounts to than perfunctory "thanks and good luck but you didn't get the job done." There's more to the story than that on a personal level.

Gallaudet's two articles about Coach Gould have been respectful and personal. He has helped his readers understand something deeper about Gould: how much the job meant to him, how he considered his players "family" and how very difficult this has been for him and many others. That's good writing. Gould deserved that much at least.

This could be another good early season test for the Aggies. MSU's record (1-2) is deceptive since their two loses came against tough competition on the road: Utah 74-64 and Utah State 64-56. They were competitive in both of those games.

I would imagine that the crowd will be sparse tonight with the students gone so I hope those who do attend will be vocal in their support of the Aggies. Go Ags!

Good question...but it's true we have offered him. It looks like he is an elite player who is receiving early interest from Cal, Stanford and St. Mary's too. I've seen him described as the best freshman in NorCal and he has a 3.86 GPA at Dublin High School. He also plays for UAA Splash City team and recently played in an Under Armor event in Brooklyn NY. I've seen him listed as from 6'1 to 6'3 and is probably still growing.

If he continues to get better and receives more and more recognition he'll be tough to get. Les must feel like he better get in on the action early and hope he can build a relationship with this young man and sell him on the value of becoming a Aggie. Might as well try. We could use a blue chip player!

Gio Nelson 6'5 175 SG from Corona, CA, might be a real sleeper also. When I posted the names of the 3 Aggies BB early signees over on the Big West Basketball Forum a few weeks ago, a couple of SoCal Big West fans seemed to be surprised that we got him and they felt that he had a lot of potential to make an immediate impact for the Aggies.

Logan Storm is an interesting recruit who appears to be another "blue collar type" of player with a big body. He could be a bruiser inside. He had 17 D1 offers 14 of which were from midwest and east schools and we know the kids from the midwest grow up with basketball in their genes. He also had 6 D1 football offers including some good programs like Cincinnati and Wyoming so we know he isn't going to be afraid of contact! He'll be a welcome addition.

I noticed that too, OBUA. I've never seen a high school freshman offer in any Aggie sport. It seems like that's a sign of the times; coaches need to create relationships with the athletes and their families early and often. Montana offered him 3 weeks before we did. He must be one heck of a prospect.

I'm not sure this is cast in stone yet but it certainly seems likely and great for Coach Gould if that's what he wants at this point in his career. Best of luck Coach!

I'm not sure what's "melodramatic" about posting a quote by Bob Dunning from an Enterprise article. I think Dunning is expressing what many Aggie football fans feel in that, at this level of FCS football and playing in the Big Sky Conference, we are not going to be successful without the necessary support systems and structure in place that the coaches and the players need to have a good chance to be successful.

What we have been doing since our move to D1 has not worked to achieve the level of success we all want. By comparison to the elite teams in the Big Sky, I believe Biggs and Gould were significantly handicapped and did not have the resources they needed to hit the ground running and it has led to a failure to be the competitive program UCD deserves. As a result, interest in Aggie football has declined and fans have become disillusioned in the direction of the program in general.

Blue understands this as he has so intelligently state in his article "The Way Forward for Aggie Football." He has done his homework and I'm optimistic that he and the advisors he has enlisted to help him achieve the vision he has articulated, will get this program on the fast track to success.
