This was the correct decision. Here's to a new direction for Aggie football!

Honestly don't enjoy seeing anyone lose their job. I hope we find the right fit this time.

I'm never one to take pleasure in seeing good people face great disappointment despite their best efforts to succeed but Aggie football could simply not continue in the direction it has been going if it is ever to return to greatness again.

This action underscores several things to me: One, that we definitely have ourselves a capable AD in Kevin Blue. Two, that he has a vision and a plan for Aggie athletics to become competitive at the D1 level and that he isn't going to *****foot around about taking action. And, three, that Blue appears to have the support of Acting Chancellor Hexter to take Aggie athletics forward. Of course, if a new chancellor replaces Hexter, everything could change..hopefully not.

Regardless of the wins and losses, I'd like to thank Coach Gould and his staff for their hard work and wish them all the best for whatever the future holds for them.

This is going to be very interesting. We need to hire the new coach asap so he can get out there with this new staff and recruit...really hard. Time is of the essence. I hope we can keep our current commits, but I'm not holding on too tight to that hope. I take no joy in this firing, but agree that it was time for a change. I just don't know who would want this or the Suck St. job right now. Taking the job may be a career-ender or career-launcher...we'll need a gambling man in more ways than one.

Now, we need to move quickly ... my hope is that Blue is tapping into the Aggie Network which may include Coaches Peterson, Hackett, and Foster.

I agree about needing to move quickly in this process. Hiring the coach is only part of the situation. Once hired they then have to hire coordinators, assistants, positional coaches, ect, then get acclimated to the area, and finally try to salvage this recruiting season. Gould and company got an early start this last year, but there is plenty of work that needs to be done. Just because we need to move quickly doesn't mean we have room to be careless this time around. Dr. Blue seems like he knows what he wants to do though, that guy has a vision.

Agreed. But I hope we don't over analyze and miss out on someone like Coach Ash, a proven FCS playoff coach. ... I assume Dr. Blue could have been talking to these 'highest level' football sources all season long and could have had a short list of potential candidates by mid season.

The religious deal seems strange and a little off putting (at least to me)...just kind of out of place at UC Davis. I agree, strange that Teresa will be part of the next interview...

I'm sure Coach Gould will have plenty of opportunities as a running back coach, he is a proven commodity. His track record of producing NFL backs will translate well.

Yeah that's not overly surprising news. Good for him, I don't harbor any ill will against Coach Gould. I hope he finds lots of success down in Fresno.

I'm not sure this is cast in stone yet but it certainly seems likely and great for Coach Gould if that's what he wants at this point in his career. Best of luck Coach!
