  • WBB WNIT: Aggies (23-7) @ Utah (16-14)
As well as the Sac Bee covered the men's great run, I feel like they snubbed the women. The Bee didn't even mention the score of the Ags first postseason D1 win in Aggie history. They beat a pretty good PAC-12 team and they deserved coverage by the Bee.

Over the years a lot of Aggie fans have been critical of the limited, and some believe biased, coverage of Aggie sports by the Sacramento Bee, but I thought the coverage of the of the Aggies historic run from the conference tournament to the Kansas game was really good. The amount of media publicity generated for the university and Aggie basketball over the past week has been incredible.

Coach Les was right when he said that "this team put UC Davis on the map nationally and internationally," and you could not have asked for better ambassadors for the university than the players on this team each and every time a microphone was placed in front of them.

The coaches and players were phenomenal and the future of Aggie basketball just took a giant step forward.

The Sac Bee's Ailene Voisin on the Aggies historic run:

Excerpt: "In the end, after the heavily favored Kansas Jayhawks chased them back to the farm, the UC Davis Aggies were left with 13 glorious minutes inside the BOK Center, one stirring victory in their NCAA Tournament debut, and enough stirring memories to wipe away the tears."

    Postgame interviews after the game.

Kansas starts at the 6:30 mark and the Aggies start at the 16:14 mark:

    (Y) 100% agree with you Toke69. These kids put their hearts into it and gave us every ounce they had. Five tough games in 9 days, many hours of travel, interviews and hoopla galore and then they go up against perhaps the best team in college basketball this year to boot. What more could you ask from these kids? It's astonishing what they accomplished.

    From Lawrence White's twitter account:

    Dear basketball,
Thank you for giving me life, for giving me an escape, and for picking me up when I was down.
    Love always,

    From Chima's twitter account:

"Regardless of tonight, this is the best season I've ever been a part of and I'm so proud to be an Aggie. Hope we made y'all proud!"

Also this shows you what a class act Chima is: In the tunnel outside the locker room, UC Davis' Chima Moneke pulled Bill Self aside: "Go win it all coach."

I get that, 6th. I also wish we could get a decent OOC or 2 at home. Holy Names and William Jessop just doesn't cut for me.

    Enterprise article on the game:

Excerpt: “I don’t want tonight and the outcome and the score to take away from what this group did,” Aggies coach Jim Les told the assembled media afterward. “They put UC Davis basketball and UC Davis on the map — nationally, internationally.

“They were just a special group.”

“We just had as an emotional locker room as I’ve ever been a part of,” said the sixth-year UCD coach. “And just we as a staff appreciating all this group gave to us all year and all the things they overcame and how they bonded together and allowed us to push them.

“They accomplished some wonderful feats that I don’t want this game to take away.”

Yeah, it got away from us but, wow, Kansas is loaded. They were impressive and well rested going into the game. When you look at what we had to do in playing 5 tough games in 9 days with all the travel, I surprised we had anything left at all against a team that could hang with some of the bottom NBA teams. That's about as brutal as it gets.
  • #16 Aggies (23-12) vs #1 Kansas (28-4)
Absolutely agree, we need to start playing up and toughen up our SOS. The really hard part of scheduling for the Aggies is that it's practically impossible to get good teams to come and play in Davis. Our OOC home schedule was awful this year: Holy Names, William Jessop and Utah Valley.

We also will have TJ Shorts who is a Juco PG transfer.
  • WBB WNIT: Aggies (23-7) @ Utah (16-14)
Great win over a PAC-12 team. It would be nice for them to get a home game but they'll probably have to go on the road again to Fort Collins in their next game.
  • WBB WNIT: Aggies (23-7) @ Utah (16-14)
Aggies are battling tough and lead Utah 57-49 after 3 quarters.

Let's go Ags, win this one!

Super proud of this group. Thank you Ags for a great season and a historic run!

The Aggies lead Utah 40-30 at the half.

We are making some terrible defensive lapses though. Those uncontested layups are Kansas is getting over and over again should not be happening against anybody. Those are mental errors by the Ags on D.

Well we were right there for about 12 minutes then Les got a T and the wheels came off the cart. I thought that was a really quick T on Coach Les. Did you notice that Bill Self did the went after the refs at the end of the half but didn't get a T?
