  • FCS Polls Week 2
This years schedule includes three games against teams that are not in the top 200; according to Sagarin’s rankings. San Diego, Dixie, and SLO.
  • Week 3: Dixie State at UC Davis
The advantage of running run “ trick” plays with personnel not giving it away suggests that we should run regular plays with TT in at a regular position sometimes. He could be in there as a slot back.
Imagine TT getting the ball on some screen plays with a few blockers or in Fly sweeps.
Then without changing personnel have him take a snap at qb, with Rodrigues as a wideout. In the spring they had HR and TT together in the backfield, and either could get the snap. We could run some “special” plays with no huddle, so they don’t have time to substitute. Not to mention TT might be able to run most of our offense when he does take a snap so they don’t know what the play is until it develops.

Not a good season so far for the Civilized Tribes.

The real mystery team is Idaho. Two games so lopsided you can’t judge.
They play Oregon State next, we’ll be their first FCS game.
  • Week 2: UC Davis @ University of San Diego
Perhaps we’ll be complaining about our schedule next year if we’re 0-2 after Cal and South Dakota State.
Cal Poly was likely a winnable game for them, as Cal Poly is still a work in progress. Can’t blame the schedule for losing to an unranked FCS team, when you're a perennial playoff contender. If they were 1-1 they wouldn’t be complaining about the schedule.

I think his best comment was on the two point conversions that somebody must have seen something.
When KDVS broadcast the games they had better commentators. Doug Kelly knows something about the Kansas City Chiefs on the 20th century. That’s got him this far, and he’s comfortable with that.
  • Week 2: UC Davis @ University of San Diego
I’m mystified why we have Doug Kelly as a commentator. Since I knew from watching the Cal Poly game that the San Diego play by play guy wasn’t the greatest, I watched the game with KTHK for audio. Big disappointment. Its just sad People get lazy in jobs, and those two guys are a case study.
They don’t know the roster. Its not that challenging to internalize that some jersey numbers are used by different players on offense and defense. At one point they informed us that Trever Facey was getting a lot of play as a reserve linebacker, he.s a 5’7” diminutive running back, who shares a roster number with a linebacker who’s played a lot over the last two years. The guy who’s not doing play by play should be able to catch that kind of error.
I think you could listen to Kelly all season and not learn a thing. He has no association with the school, what’s he doing there?
  • Week 2: UC Davis @ University of San Diego
May e they should try it on regular downs.
  • Week 2: UC Davis @ University of San Diego
Question. Why the unusual formations for two points. Kelly ventured that somebody somewhere somehow saw something,
  • Week 2: UC Davis @ University of San Diego
And our radio team is pretty bad too
  • Week 2: UC Davis @ University of San Diego
Radio team think Trever Facey is a reserve linebacker. LOL He and Scharerg share #33
  • Week 2: UC Davis @ University of San Diego
Here is a post about the team with some quotes from Hawkins about the Tulsa game and San Diego, probably from a site you’re unlikely to come across. This extra long week creates long gaps between news for this team.

  • Week 2: UC Davis @ University of San Diego
The game notes list 70 players on the travel squad unless I can’t count.
  • FCS Scores - Week 1
Stanford’s approach to the Davis win in 2005 was to never mention it.
I wish we had an opportunity to watch condensed games. ESPN+ doesn’t even cut out the commercial breaks. Tulsa had a coaches show, but it was more of a highlight real. You would think that showing the first downs to run out the clock at end of game might be interesting to get the coaches perspective on , but no. They don’t want anyone to dwell on it either.
  • Week 2: UC Davis @ University of San Diego
It will be interesting. We had more runs than passes against Tulsa. However, Tulsa’s base defense has five defensive backs, if San Diego plays us more conventionally, we might pass more
.I don’t know if the offensive philosophy is going to be do what we want and impose that on them or take what they give us..
  • Opening Day 2021 - @ Tulsa
It is interesting. But while it’s nice that an employee benefit has evolved into a health care system, I was just lamenting the loss of the ability to make things in California, and to a lesser extent the US as a whole.
  • Opening Day 2021 - @ Tulsa
Equating Kaiser to healthcare is like saying Ford built weekends

I don’t think many people grasp the shared significance of those three ships as examples of US industrial production in WW2.
I wonder how many college age people even know liberty ships were built in Sausalito and Richmond.
