4.49. Doss reportedly 4.56. Larison has qualities as a player that transcend speed alone.

Why doesn’t he just turn pro? His class is graduating this year. Why go play for another college at all? He has shown his ability, why risk injury?
  • Come Back Coach Hawk
They are a long way from Lake Tahoe and the Golden Gate Bridge, the Davis local attractions.
The Davis is tough to qualify excuse doesn’t hold up like it used to. Need a B average at a time that a B average is average. If your counselor got you to take the right classes you more than likely qualify,
  • Come Back Coach Hawk
[ Foster was a coach at Davis when Hawkins played there.
  • Come Back Coach Hawk
Reasons they might not be wise to:
Dan Hawkins has been at Davis for 7 years, and in that time has never beat a top 10 ranked team has defeated only three teams ranked in the top 20, Idaho twice and Weber in 2021 right after Weber lost its QB, never beat conference rivals Montana State and Eastern Washington. At the same time Davis has been upset multiple times when it has been ranked. So at the FCS level Hawkins record isn’t stellar.
Dan Hawkins teams are as good as his coordinators, Dan supplies a vision. Unless Dan can bring some coordinators with him it would be a mistake, and the coordinators at Davis aren’t ready for that level, they had a bad year.

Being an Aggie alum doesn’t count for anything as far as job security in coaching. Cody never played for Hawkins, they don’t have a long history like he had with Tucker. I don’t know why we score two touchdowns a game less than we did last year with roughly similar talent. I think Cody has improved the run game some but the pass offense has fallen off. Cody might be good to keep as the OL coach. The QB coach hasn’t either shown by game results that he can prepare a new qb, or improve the one he inherited,

It is a general principle that for data everyone uses the same database. The online roster is authoritative, why are they using something else? And how are they going to fix this now that it is on the box score for both teams in every game played?
  • 2023 Week 11: UC Davis @ Idaho State
They list another name with Eli’s number 70. This is likely a result of the stats team not using the same roster, they have an error in their copy. Weird that it happens home and away.
  • 2023 Week 11: UC Davis @ Idaho State
Yes, that was weird. Did anyone run a fly sweep? Davis seems to game plan in a way that they just discard major portions of their offense and just take what they think the opponent is most vulnerable to. Doesn’t seem to work all that well.

What if he graduates in four years and is drafted, he would be giving up more than college NLI money.

look at the box score for the game, participation tab lists the starters and everyone who participated.

These stats flow right into the players bios if you look at the season stats for the player in the roster. So Eli is not credited with any game participation.

Luke Roncevich has the credit for all those games, even though I don’t think he has played in any.

Here are the season statistics with a participation tab. Eli Simonson isn’t listed,

Wildcat isn’t a gimmick, its not like they are fooling anyone or trying to, and it certainly isn’t a surprise.
  • 2023 Week 11: UC Davis @ Idaho State
Larison might graduate and just put his name in for the draft. He is in his fourth year.
  • 2023 Week 11: UC Davis @ Idaho State
Guess who started again at left tackle according to the game stats. Luke Roncevich.
A team might recruit our actual sophomore starting tackle just by promising that they’ll list him as a game participant. Ten consecutive games with the same error in the game stats. It hides a pretty good story of a transfer underclassman playing the first games of his college career, starting every game at his new school
  • 2023 Week 11: UC Davis @ Idaho State
You may be right but if Davis wins the selection committee might look at Sac as fading, finishing lower in the conference standings, and losing head to head as reasons to pick Davis. There are arguments both ways.
  • 2023 Week 11: UC Davis @ Idaho State
I think the way to go with the game plan is to be balanced. With Trent and Lan we have a run game that can exceed the 4.8 yards per carry Idaho State is giving up in conference games. I think we’ve settled on a rotation of very effective receivers, and given Idaho States relatively porous pass defense we’d be foolish not to exploit it. Gbatu has been a nice addition. I think we need to assume we will need to put up points and should take an aggressive approach.

Were the injury occurrences to those players visible during the game?
  • 2023 Week 11: UC Davis @ Idaho State
Idaho State’s passing leads the conference, but they give up interceptions;(10) and sacks (15).
They average 2.8 yards per rush,
In conference games Idaho State has given up more yards than any other team, and more yards through the air, and have the worst defensive efficiency (opposing qb rating). Opposing rushers average 4.8 yards per carry, which surprisingly is better than three conference teams including Sac State.

The bad snap cost them 24 negative yards. They had only 3 rushing first downs
