  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Idaho State
Pocatello is supposed to have rain all this week. At this point they are calling for decreasing showers Saturday. Do they have artificial turf? Otherwise it might be a mud bowl.
  • How do we beat EWU, JMU, NDSU
300 yards of total offense and less than 30 points isn’t going to beat the top tier. Last year EWU lit us up with nearly 600 yards. We need that explosive offense to take these guys out.

I miss the kdvs play by play. I like to listen to the game while watching it live. With kdvs, there was no delay. 1140 has about a 1 minute delay from action to broadcast. And we’ve got to get a new guy, or gal, as the stadium announcer. The fella we have now is about as exciting as a sleeping dog.

At today’s news conference Hawk said HR had a good practice and was in good form. Sounds like we will be seeing him Saturday.
  • New Covid Protocol - Vax or Neg Test required

Yep, wife and i are fully vaccinated, and ive had the booster, but we always mask up when around strangers of unknown status. While I’m not crazy about government mandates surrounding masks and vaccinations, there’s just too many people who blow this all off and put everyone around them at risk. It was refreshing to be at the team aggie pre-game party surrounded by vaccinated, or covid test negative, fans.
Though retired, i still occasionally need to go on campus. They now require vaccinated people to test every 2 weeks. The line going into the ARC wrapped around the building this morning, but they are very efficient at getting people processed. Nice to see all the coeds back on campus.

I do the same as BGA, go to website and click listen live. Every time ive tried going another route, i have to negotiate through a bunch of ads.
  • FCS Polls Week 5

We’ve got to beat EWU before i entertain the idea of us being 1, or even 2. Mid range top 10 feels about right.
  • Former Sac State QB Greg Knapp Critically Injured in a Bike Accident

Very sad. I have personal knowledge of a young fella with a drinking problem that had alcohol in his system and hit (and run) a transient on a bike and killed him. His family hired a top notch legal defense team, and he got off. The only positive result was the young guy got off booze and turned his life around. We have careless people in our society. I’m not sure we can regulate common sense into everyone.

I think i would put the griz in higher than the s. Illonois salukis based on schedule. And Dixie keeps going from the frying pan to the fire. Up next for them - the griz. Those guys might have the toughest schedule in the fcs.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis

Yeah, agreed. With ISU, i think we rest HR another week. And he certainly had some other undisclosed problem going into the third game. Hopefully all that heals. We are going to need HR on his A game when EWU comes to town.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
I also peaked at their boards. Their must be some other laundry, but with the field go decision aside, Petrino had his guys ready to go with a solid game plan which nearly knocked us off. Idaho has a ton of talent. I wish them well now that we are past them, (wink).
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
Not sure what the announced attendance was for the last game, but there is no question about it, tonights crowd was significantly less. With that said, still a healthy turnout compared to what we were seeing a few years ago.

Hard not to like TT. But I’d like to see Hastings get the start next Saturday. Neither one has the efficiency of a healthy HR. Several of Hastings passes were behind the receiver making the reception difficult. I think he improves with another start. ISU - not so good. Should be a weaker team than the Vandals. Another good reason to rest up HR.

Wow, nail biter tonight. I’m still wound up.
  • Big Sky and Other FCS Games Week 5
    Montana state 27 N. Colorado 7, 3rd quarter.
  • New Covid Protocol - Vax or Neg Test required
This is an interesting read on the vaccinated vs unvaccinated controversy. And by the way, one variable that is not being discussed with break through delta variant infections is “which” vaccine is seeing the break throughs. There is a difference from what i am being told by some emergency docs.

  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
    https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2021/sep/30/im-excited-to-go-idaho-wide-receiver-hayden-hatten/

“ Hayden Hatten makes quarterbacks look good.”

“ At a University of Idaho practice this week. The 6-3, 210-pound receiver with deceptive speed, uncanny hands and an elite small forward’s spring, loped down the sideline, casually reached overhead at the last moment, plucked a tight spiral out of the air from Mike Beaudry and rolled forward into the end zone to the accompanying hoots from teammates.”

“ Without giving away specifics, the Vandals spent time in practice leading up to the game with UC Davis working on gadget plays designed to get the Aggies’ defense on the wrong foot.”

“ All they do is play man,” says Hatten. “I’m excited to go.”
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
Looks like the Vandals give up 3 times more passing yards than running. I think Hawk alluded to the fact that they have a stout front on the D line.
  • New Covid Protocol - Vax or Neg Test required

Having the pre-screening check points is a really good idea to stream line stadium entry.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
I hope HR returns and is 100%. He’s a real daisy when he is on track. But if he’s not hitting the mark, i hope hawk makes a change sooner then later. Gould was the guy who liked to “stand by his man” regardless of the outcome. I think HR was left in too long against Weber, and many of us were crying for a substitution.
