Oh Rocko seems like a perfectly nice dude, I have nothing against him personally, I just think his whole stadium thing was a bit of a mistake. I think the department on many levels seems pretty fantastic, I just think we need to match our teasers of projects with the actual viability of those things actually coming into existence.

I'm almost at the point that I want us to jump to FBS simply to get accurate and live stats, consistently. Im not sure who deals with all that stuff but even when we played montana on ESPN 2 I swear it was like a snail was updating game info...

Literally no one I know here on campus knew we had free tickets. The only way I got a few friends to go or think about going was getting that link to free tickets from this forum. Also when you look up UC Davis football tickets it comes up with a single page ticket article from the beginning of the season that leads to a link that says “no tickets available” since it’s a link to regular season tickets

Yeah I agree with Plough completely considering the size of our student body, but i do have to add an * to the whole thing considering it was the weekend before finals. I have went to every game with 5-8 friends and this week only had 1.

I was in the same boat considering 99% of their players were really chill. I will say the guys who took the L onto the field proceeded to joke around with SD players asking them to come to their party after so it seems like at least the players and media dudes were okay in the end haha

Yeah I was thinking 7.5k or something, more students than I thought to be honest, but not many ISU fans at all...

Interesting moment from the game: near the end one of our camera/media guys had an L shaped piece of binder paper and walked down onto the field, only for an ISU coach/trainer to grab the paper, rip it up, and push our dude around. Not sure how to feel about bringing a literal L to the other team but it was ridiculous seeing the ISU staff member who was probably in his 40s physically push someone.

the most wild thing for me is that the attendance for lots of fcs playoff games are low... but they also have like 3k-17k students compared to our 40k...blows my mind sometimes when I think about the size of this school haha

It seems obvious that the heavy focus on academics connects to the whole struggle to have people understand who we are playing, and even more getting people into the seats. Our social media team has KILLED it recently in my opinion, but attendance isnt booming or something. I also think from people that I've talked to, that the whole fbs vs fcs thing confuses the hell out of people (which again goes back to most students not being very involved in athletics). The amount of folks who hear that were in the playoffs and then ask why we are not playing the likes of oregon would surprise you. Granted, if we played oregon I dont know how much better attendance would be hypothetically during finals week, but its an interesting distinction to have all the graphics say "d1" playoffs and then potentially play southeastern Missouri State not cal or arkansas. Dont think moving to fbs would necessarily solve our attendance woes (see our basketball attendance even though all d1 conferences are simply that, d1) but its an interesting thing to think about public perception wise.
