  • Week 2: UC Davis @ San Diego
Gilliam is damn good and 2 for 2 on offensive series. Keep it up Aggies!

    Well that was easy

    Let's go Aggies!
  • Week 2: UC Davis @ San Diego
Never ever overlook an opponent no matter what level. That being said, I am fairly confident that the Aggies will take care of business in this one. San Diego's defense look porous against Cal Poly. Hopefully our offense can gain some confidence back in this one after their performance against Cal (which is still undetermined if their defense is that good or if we are shaky on offense without Doss... or a combination of both).

Wouldn't that be something if the Raiders lost out on Doss and Brown?
  • Bad press for the Band-Uh!
I think UCLA is campus run, but Berkeley is still student run. The university has been trying to get control of the band for decades at this point, but they never had a legitimate reason for a takeover. It's true that the band never had support. Meals at games were bought by the band members. There was always a large emphasis on what was on band time and off band time. I think that this investigation has entered into some fuzzy territory of policing students on their off time.

Unfortunately, the way this went down everyone is kind of at the mercy of the university. I can tell you for certain there are a lot of alumni who want to fight against this, but lawyers/law students within the group seem to believe that the university learned from it's attempt to do this in 92 and that they way they have written things really limit any case to be held against them. There is plenty of talk about protests and pulling donations though. I don't know anything for certain that's going on in the student band, but I've heard grumblings that there is a good population there that are very upset with this outcome.

Ultimately, the university didn't really give much of a chance for the alumni to rebuttal. Their method of research was interviewing 23 students (over summer) about their experiences. While I don't know who was involved in this process I have to believe that a majority of those 23 were the ones who were being vocal against the band as they would be more likely to stay over summer to participate in these interviews.

    Shitty situation all around.
  • 2020 Recruiting List
Yeah, it was my mistake and he was just making me aware. I will get on creating another recruiting thread and move him to that one
  • 2020 Recruiting List
No he didn't commit, he's saying that he is actually in the class of 2021, not 2020. I guess we just offered him a year early and I didn't notice he was actually in the next class of athletes.
  • Bad press for the Band-Uh!
Who knows if the new band will even do anything at picnic day. That was the band-uhs thing and they are going out of their way to distance themselves from that. They are under no obligation to continue the traditions that were previously done. Just about the only thing that can be done is that the current bandsmen stage some sort of revolt, but who knows the university might just say screw it an axe the whole thing to save themselves a buck.
  • Bad press for the Band-Uh!
There is a lot of talk amongst the alumni and predictably people are not happy with this decision. People are already talking about how they will not be giving money to the new version of the band and that the endowment for the CAMB should be refunded to the donors considering it was for the CAMB and not whatever this new iteration will be. It's a difficult situation because we want to support the students currently in band, but what the university has done is way overboard.
  • Bad press for the Band-Uh!
Sad day indeed. I'm not saying that there weren't issues that needed to be addressed, but this seems like a very aggressive response. Truly a shame to lose an organization so steeped in history and tradition.
  • Bad press for the Band-Uh!
Well, just as I said that we got an update... alumni band is being dissolved entirely and the band-uh is being completely reformed under a new name, losing it's student run title, and will remain on probation.

    RIP Cal Aggie Marching Band-uh

  • 2020 Recruiting List
Haven't been a lot of updates on this front. LB Nate White committed to Penn and we put an offer out on 2 star DB Kavir Bains out of Valley Christian in San Jose. Pretty quiet otherwise.
  • Where can I get an Aggie Doss jersey?
I would buy a legit jersey in a heartbeat. UC Davis athletics marketing and merchandise has always been somewhat lacking though.
  • Bad press for the Band-Uh!
The latest update us alumni received was that everything is still status quo in terms of the investigation. So still no band-uh for the time being.
  • Week 2: UC Davis @ San Diego
Some people are saying that he is academically ineligible currently.
  • Keelan Doss: Raider Watch
Good for Keelan to be honest. Glad he decided to let go of the childhood dream and make a business decision in finding an easier route to 53
