I liked having the high school bands there - they actually let the bands play a little and make noise between downs a few times! So much better than the ambient ‘music’ they play throughout the rest of the game.

I’m probably in the minority here….but we’re never gonna be taken seriously if we bring out the Bossy, Cow,Cow anymore. Nothing says rinky-dink cow school like a ‘cheer’ based on diary products.

we really had no choice. The NCAA declared if you were playing D1 in other sports, you were playing D1 in football. The idea of playing Cal State East Bay or Sonoma in basketball, and playing…….college of idaho(?) in football is not very appealing!

Was kinda cool to see Teddye Buchanan spending his bye week on the sideline, whooping it up with his former teammates.

if we joined the current Pac12 we’d have the worst basketball arena in the conference. It’s in the upper half of the Big West, but seriously lacking compared to most MWC schools. Be nice to have more than 1 snack stand and hand rails in the upper section!

Hutton tore his MCL on the first drive vs EWU but apparently practiced during the week - sounds crazy to me! Hope we see him before the season is over

Plough said their defense is good (Montana only put up 24), especially their 3rd down defense. I didn't ask if that's because their man-to-man makes it really hard to pick up short passes, or if their 1st/2nd down defense puts teams in 3rd and longs. should be interesting.

i remember hearing in the preseason that 8 wins was the 'magic number' for a bid. Of course, alot of that depends on how the other BSC teams finish out. if we were to be 5-3, and have Idaho, or NAU/Weber (they play this weekend) sneak ahead of us, i'm not sure that 5 teams from the conference would get in.

UNC is averaging 13 points a game, while giving up nearly 33. Their last two games (upset over Weber, relatively close loss to Montana) are 2 of their best. Hopefully the Aggie offense of the Poly game or even quarters of EWU show up early and put the pressure on a struggling offense.

Last time UNC came to Davis was October 2021. If i recall, they were beat up and started in basically a single-wing formation. We won 32-3 in a very fast game. We ran the ball 53 times, they ran it 31.....and....mostly ran the ball the entire 4th quarter! That was the beginning of the short Ed McCaffrey era!

it’s a weird place. For-profit Christian school with enrollment of around 100,000 (mostly online). Fined nearly $40M about a year ago by the government for deceptive pricing of advanced degrees. They did bring a bunch of fans to their NCAA basketball tourney games last - I believe the school foot the bill.

That will be by far the toughest environment the basketball team plays in this year (Hawaii a runner-up)

I thought the NCAA had a rule against practice/games on Election Day? They made a big deal of it. Hawk was not a big fan

Never mind - the rule got changed:

In-season athletes may not get Election day off due to a reversal of a 2020 NCAA rule.
Teams are now only required to give athletes a day off within 30 days of Nov. 8.

their current stadium holds around 15000 with plans to expand to something like 17000. I don't see anything about future plans beyond that.
