good points. The most important defensive stat, to me, is scoring defense. We’ve held our 3 quality opponents to 20 which should give us a chance to win every week. Our fourth quarters have been incredibly good, which is a sign of a quality team.

This game is huge; win and you’re 6-0 with two of the weaker teams in conference coming up. Never look ahead BUT a win puts us in a spot for quite a finish.

I guess what makes me nervous is that we really struggled on offense in spring. Have things changed that much since then? We were missing Gilliam, which effects us in many ways and we had two turnovers in March.

I expect a much closer game than Dunning

Spring game they head us to 300 yards and 13 first downs at our place. Is their defense weaker? Our offense much stronger? Took a last minute drive to win. Hopefully he get a confident accurate HR back, and unleash all our weapons. I can’t take another nailbiter this early in the year

Hopefully our band and student section can start practicing ‘who wears short shorts’ for homecoming.

We have to find a game picture of the coach and his pants! Can’t possibly be as short as the ones our coaches wore in the early 80’s!

he mentioned in the press conference that Faulk got in the game; I had no idea when. Good insight!

it wasn't AS full as Dixie, but it was pretty full. the band section was 1/2 full, but the rest of the east side was full. west side was full. berms had quite a few people, not as many as the Dixie mob, but much more than normal.

I’m watching the game now. Marsh does a decent job on play by play, although there are a number of misidentified players (we do throw to a bunch of guys, but….). Dunning wasn’t good, but I think that was a one-off. Scott Barry is pretty solid. Informative, usually doesn’t talk over the play by play. Doug Kelly is a bit droll and doesn’t add much insight. In Marsh’s defense, hard to get in synch when you have a new guy weekly. He’s certainly as good or better than most of the Big Sky guys I hear.

Tough crowd - ‘that kind of day for the Bears, missing his spot….’
  • How do we beat EWU, JMU, NDSU
I would really like to see TT fake the swing to Gilliam (Idaho swarmed that) pull back and let it rip down the field, or hit someone in the area of the converging LB/safety. He’s looking more comfortable throwing.

Greg Wong does play by play , Doug Kelly is on color. Doug does color on away TV games.

it was a little comical when, after the camera zoomed in on them celebrating, the PAT team was lining up and they said ‘looks like they marked it out at the 3 yard line’

I think you can listen in the phone app and Bluetooth it to your echo. I do that often with Sirius on my phone.

I used to listen on TuneIn app. I haven’t tried this season but their normal broadcasts are there.

gotcha. I didn’t mean that as a Tucker v Coombs, just an observation about possible mindset based on stats (which can always be interpreted in many ways).
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
one of the knocks on Tucker was the inability to get off the field on 3rd downs. Saturday Idaho we 5-15 on third downs which is a pretty decent defensive result. Made them punt 7 times despite the big yardage. I think we’re relying a bit on Whelan pinning teams back, and not giving up the long plays (well, except the first long run!).

They scored 40 seconds into game, 13 more the other 59:20. Even the dreaded TOP wasn’t as lopsided as you would expect based on yards.

That being said, I hate the lone, deep safety. Seems like we’re playing a man short
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
they replaced Swanson with somebody that worked the Sac Kings games and that guy was good. I thought I heard this guy was from the Kings also but it’s been a big drop off.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
Hastings wasn’t overly sharp, but we dropped a couple passes that would have been nice gains. I liked the pass game plan better than the recent games with Hunter. More quick hitters to WRs that gave them a chance to run. The INT could have been a big play but it floated a bit - hard pass rolling left. That could have led to a late half score; follow that up with a nice opening second half drive and…..

But not to be. I thought Hastings looked poised. A little more mobile than i expected
