I’d bet Koehler is back since next year will be his 5th- same as if he had redshirted along the way. He’s got a great motor. Sometimes that gets him in trouble with his footwork ( he’s always going 100 mph). He’s a tough guy who works hard under the boards.

Last season when I’m come up solo for a week night game, I’d sit with football guru Sam Young. After a big play, Sam would yell out ‘that’s my man!’ Blue collar guy!
  • Start of season to be delayed
I get nervous reading the paragraph wondering if the two other teams scheduled to visit will be allowed to. I suspect their BB teams are traveling so is that a California quarantine concern?

thanks for this; I was thinking Squire had the head injury for some reason.

Good questions. I think this year doesn’t count for eligibility so no need to redshirt. I was assuming Adabayo was hurt since he was getting quality minutes early. I haven’t heard the extent of Squire’s injury. Was his eye involved?

Santa Barbara is on a real roll. Our OT loss (should have won) was one of the only close games in their current 9 game streak. I watched a bit of Irvine-Bake and they looked good, but not great. Not as strong as recent Irvine teams. Riverside has some nice wins. The back to back format is bringing parity to the standings - hard to pull off the sweep.

I don’t know that seeding means much this season, although I’d like to skip UCSB in the first round. Looking for a winning conference record.

i tend to agree it’s easier with no hostile crowds, but pressure is pressure. Look at today’s men’s game. Pepper is on fire but misses the front end of a one-and-one that would have iced it. Maybe it’s easier to overthink with no fans.
  • The next Aggie QB?
I saw him last February at the team banquet and he was not built like the other QBs!

Ba is playing well, maybe the most improved. Murphy had to play bigger minutes than normal and they went after him.

Someone pointed out the fouls were likely due to tired legs - good observation. Playing a competitive game and coming back less than 24 hours is a challenge. Hats off to both squads. One thing I noticed is the Saturday games get a little chippy. Thankfully, refs and coaches have been very good to get things settled.

are they having to follow the small group practice? Sounds like we’re running groups of 25, with several sessions back to back to back. Long days for coaches and staff, logistics task to get the right group together for each day/session

And a win! Never easy but gutty on a short turnaround. Pepper was huge. Shaw did some good things. I’ll wear my autographed Brian Shaw BB camp shirt in his honor!

Big guys have lots of fouls. What happened to Hoagland?

    Down 2 8 to go

Nice run to take the lead. Fouls might be a problem down the stretch

Beach much more aggressive today getting us in foul trouble. Down 13-10 with 12 to go in half

I’ve scheduled my outdoor exercise around the game so I can listen to Scott Marsh while exercising. Sweeps are tough, but we could really use one
  • The next Aggie QB?
Sounded like coming into camp Rodrigues and Hastings were ahead of the pack. Tompkins got very muscular. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him moving around the field as a slot receiver, or wildcat, a bit like we did with Spencer a couple years back.

might be easiest to start a Saturday game thread

Defense was very good yesterday, and we’ll need to repeat that effort today. I expect FT back to normal ( on both sides), so if we can continue to shoot above average, our chance for a sweep is good.

Long Beach hasn’t had much of impact in the Big West the past few years. They always schedule tough preseason and used to salvage overall record with good conference runs. Not so much lately

Pepper was really big down the stretch. He converted 4-4 FT that kept the game at two possessions down to the last minute. Manjon’s winner was a great play.

Ba had some nice defensive plays. Be nice to get Squire back - he contributes on both ends and gives us a bit of swagger.

1-8 on FTS? Wow. We’ve been around 85% all season

I think women are on ESPN3. Fuller’s 3 at the end stops the flow, up 4 at half
