I was talking to staff about Whelan last week and they were saying that once he starts eating like an adult, he could put on 20 pounds. And then he will really boom the ball. Just needs to get in the NFL pipeline

did they lose alot of players to graduation/transfer? Seems like they are bringing in a ton

Looks like a decent pickup. Milling had an impact coming from Nevada; hopefully this guy fills some of the slack of Murphy/McGill.

Feeling a bit better about next year. Now, if we can get some pounds on Bora…..

It’s interesting that Montana news sources are reporting Beasley to UCD, but nothing yet from us. Maybe some dots to dot still

With Murphy gone and Anigwe’s penchant for fouls, we really need to find a bigger, stronger body to defend the inside. Someone who can score occasionally from the inside would be an added bonus

Interesting tidbit. In 2018 Heritage beat Dublin 100-98 (OT) in NCS semifinals. Heritage was led by Ezra Manjon’s 33 points; Dublin by Robby Beasley’s 27

have seen both play in high school several times. Good players, and apparently good kids from what I’ve heard

wow, that would be huge. Especially if we can get younger brother next year!

i think the vote just started. its a non-binding vote, but if it were to pass, there may be momentum next year to follow up with a 'real vote'. there are around 1000 athletes. if they all vote against it, and get a friend to follow suit, its almost sure to not pass. i believe it would require a super majority, so you'd have to get another 4000 or so 'repeal' votes to change things. people i talked to didn't seem worried BUT thought it was a distraction that they didn't need.

even though that Murphy clip in on the basketball give day site, it looks like it’s several weeks old. So, who knows

I had Manjon had Les’ blessing to look for an upgrade but that the door was wide open for a return. Maybe that’s true for others.

Interestingly, on the men’s basketball ‘give day’ they have a promo video with Aaron Murphy. Decide to stick around?

I think some of those, like ours, are exaggerated a little by the COVID graduates. But, dang, there’s some big turnovers
  • UCLA and Notre Dame to play FCS opponents.
By scheduling a HBCU first, alum can’t really raise a stink about paying a FCS, so it opens up that door.
  • UCLA and Notre Dame to play FCS opponents.
Scheduling the HBCU seemed like a way to open the door to them scheduling FCS schools. Too cynical?

what i liked about Davis basketball (and the Big West) was that you saw players for 4 years and really developed an attachment. Squire's departure last year hurt, but Manjon's really hurts. Find a diamond in the rough, develop them, and let someone else reap the benefits.

UCSB has had success bringing in transfers so it can be done at a UC.

Beasley’s brother is a junior at Dougherty Valley. Little guy but averaged about 30 a game. Dynamic scorer
