We visited Toronto in early June when the Blue Jays were able 5 games back of New York. I bought a Jays hat that first day to blend in (last thing I wanted to do on vacation was discuss US politics)….and since then they’ve been in a nice roll.

    You’re welcome, Toronto!

So, Lil’ Yachty is NOT a yacht rock tribute act? Boy, I would have been in for a shock!

Did anyone here go to Brewfest? I was at an alumni gathering at the athletic facility and it looked much smaller and more subdued than in the past. Looked like patrons had wrist bands with punch spots to limit the number of drinks.
  • Plough's name coming up as a possibility for Oregon State
Plough often says, with regard to support, 'We aren't where we want to be, but we are much better than we were'.

I think we're gonna need a big boast in support from Mrak Hall (or is it now central campus) is order to bring in more out of state players and continue to bring in transfers as grad students. Those scholarships cost (or will cost for grad transfers) twice the cost of an in-state which limits us to about 10 or them on the roster. I don't think that HAS to be the case.....seems like Chancellor could decide to charge the program the same. I'd be curious how other UC's handle out-of-state and/or grad transfers in terms of cost of a scholarship. If that doesn't happen, we'll need more external support to pump up the scholarship budget.

    maybe in the playoffs!

its a challenge for us to get them on the schedule. their first game was Sept 20 which would have been our 3 game, even in a normal year (without the zero week and bye). They don't want to come out here for their opener vs a team with 2 games, and traveling cross country for us right before the conference opener isn't ideal. That being said, some of the Ivy's have been out to USD and Poly in the past. I'm not sure if they will opt in to the 12-game schedule (i doubt it) and that will make it even less likely.

can we get the women's softball team to come out and throw the socks toward the top of the stands?

I’m hoping they ziplone Gunrock from the tower into the stadium for the Causeway!

NAU is a solid team and this was a very good victory. The defensive injuries had us in slow down mode in the first half (less possessions for the defense) which isn’t our strong point; worse. The few times we went fast in the first half, the offense didn’t look settled and the results weren’t good.

Special teams still haunt us. I give Riddick a pass on the miss -bad snap led to missed timing and not so great hold (good play just to get the ball set). Not good execution for a 50-yard kick.

But….the kickoffs are aging me. Kicker doesn’t seem to have the leg to get in the end zone, so ‘trying’ to pin the receiver. But poor execution (returner gets a running start on kick at the 30) and poor tackling when he does execute gives them possession at the 45 or better. My seat mate (teammate) and I yell ‘kick it out of bounds’….starting at the 35 seems like a positive! It’s not helping that injuries are forcing us to put guys out there that may not be ready. I’d hate this to cost us games down the road.

Otherwise, great win. Tough, talented team. Fun atmosphere but we need to get Darius back on the mic, brand new father or not!!

Nava is out. It sounded like the injuries are really hitting the defensive players.

I think the x-factor here could be our ability to get to the QB. MSU hit him a lot and disrupted their offense.

more optimistic than me, based on our injuries. I think we slow things down like vs Poly to keep the defense fresh in the second half

I thought so too. I mentioned that to someone in the department and he was surprised. When I looked early in the week, the west side showed ‘low availability’ in all sections, and most showed only a handful of seats. We’ll see.

Maybe he was focused more on the student turnout.

I can’t imagine we’re anxious to give up a home game.

Sounds like they are expecting less than 10k Saturday unless there is a surge in student attendance. No idea what the popularity of Brewfest will be.

almost positive Stetson is a one-off, that we are paying them to come out for. Here are future schedules:

i haven't seen one since before the conversion to Champion Aggies. At the time, it seems consistent with the message of 125 or so $1000 donors.
  • Homecoming: Northern Arizona @ UC Davis
From what I've heard, Montana has over 500 $1000+ donors (on top of their ticket/suite sales) and we are somewhere in the range of 125. The goal is 500. When i go through the Donor list, i don't see many from my era and we're at an age (kids are all grown up) where you should be able to cough up $84/month.
  • Battle for the Golden Horseshoe: UC Davis @ Cal Poly
thanks for that. That was a stat that seemed to be the case to me, but didn’t have actual numbers. I think that’s a big reason we haven’t had long drives - one vs poly with a 2 TD lead would have made the last minute or so of the game much more relaxing.
