toki is okay. The starting line is fine, it’s the backups that are hurting.

Dang, that’s a good number for men’s basketball!

story on the website said it was the largest crowd in program history. I didn't see the actual number. just curious what kind of attendence they had.

True, especially since it sounds like his backup was missing last week.

There were some significant real-time lineup adjustments being made just so we'd make it through the game. DL was decimated, so we were featuring some LB/DB heavy lineups more and more as the game wore on. A fact the SUU noticed and exploited with their power running.

Being at home helps -> we can suit up just about everyone and uses some solid freshmen without burning the redshirt status.

We have Utah Tech penciled in for next season. Las Vegas, then the national parks, and finally St. George for the game.

Sounds like lots of injuries on the defense. Should see a couple frosh DL getting some time. No Rex, but probably some Porter.

it is move in weekend. I thankfully booked my lodging last March - price is $100 higher now. The past couple years, they’ve been bringing the dorm kids over as part of their orientation - makes for a big, enthusiastic crowd

what do you mean ‘even Dr Mike’? I think you meant especially?!?!?

    Welcome back
  • Pac-12 set to add Boise, 3 other MW schools
the oregon state AD said 9 would be 'ideal' for scheduling. that gives them 8 conference games (like most conferences) and only need to schedule 4 out of conference. having to schedule 5 would be a challenge.

i can't see any FCS school being Pac-8/9/10 ready by the summer of 2026, nor do i think any TV network is going to be excited about paying out to a conference where one or more teams wouldn't be eligible to play in a bowl unless the bowls run out of eligible teams. (like James Madison last year).

I'm certainly not against the idea of moving up IF i knew what we'd be moving up into. Ponying up a $5M fee to go FBS, and figuring out the money situation to add 22 football scholarships (and add a like number of women's, or get rid of some men's sports) to hopefully go into a Mountain West where you don't know who will be there? Will Air Force join the PAC, or join up with the other service academies? Will other MWC join the PAC, or leave to the Sun Belt or AAC? Are you looking to join a conference that has a core of 4 or 5 teams? Its a huge investment for a huge unknown.

Sounds like the Pac was exploring this move prior to the final announcement of the corner schools joining the Big12. They maybe could have retained Cal and Stanford, giving them as much TV money as they are getting in the ACC and a better path to the playoffs. But, they sat and waited...and.....here we are!
  • MBB: 2024-25 Schedule
I was told it was to get those early games played while students are in session. The conference schedule is so long they have to play some games before new year’s.

I’ve only read that 8 is the minimum to be recognized by NCAA as a conference. You’d have to find 5 out of conference games to fill your schedule. For basketball, you’d need to fill in about 16 out of conference.

The defense through the first three quarters and the offense in the 3rd quarter looked like a top-15 team. The fourth quarter? Yikes. Seemed to be playing very conservative on offense thinking a 10-point lead was safe....until they switched QB's and the RB got loose. Then, we were back on our heels trying to milk clock and making enough mistakes to keep us from gaining momentum. Offensive line probably had their least productive game (3.3 rushing ave, 3 sacks, several major penalties). We had 89 net yards of rushing, which was boosted by Larison's 35 yard run. Still waiting to see Perez break free.

Toki went out for a bit in the 3rd quarter, and that seemed to be the time where their running game picked up steam. He played off and on after that, but i wonder if he was slowed down a bit.

we stayed aggressive on defense with blitzes getting lots of pressure...but....no sacks or blocked passes. we were SO CLOSE to getting a big loss and getting off the field, only to see the QB get loose and get the first down. they converted 9-17 on 3rd , 1-1 on 4th (i think it was 4th and inches).

I believe Rex will be back this week and he will stabilize the backfield. The Cal LB is eligible and he should help us get back to our normal alignments and get after the run game.

Need to get a full 60 minutes vs Utah Tech in front of the enthusiastic crowd and get this team rolling into the Idaho game.

The camera work on broadcast was HORRIBLE. Announcers were pretty good

that was my son’s freshman year. He were standing near the end zone that the Bison scored in disbelief.

when was the last time a power 5 team, beside Stanford, played AT San Jose State?
  • Shredville gear?
I would guess the guy wearing the shirt was given it by someone in the staff.

I don’t know the deal with the bookstore. I think there’s some beauractic reason they don’t sell the adidas gear.

Here’s an interesting tidbit (at least to me). Neither Boise nor Colorado State have baseball programs. Will the Pac-something offer baseball?
  • 2024 Week 3: UC Davis (1-1) @ Southern Utah (1-1)
both are out tomorrow. A couple DL out also. Sounded like both Connor brothers are close to being back, nothing too serious . Thompkins will be playing.
  • Pac-12 set to add Boise, 3 other MW schools
agree. the Pac-whatever by 2026 doesn't make sense for some many reasons. so, we set our sights on a TDB Mountain West that will be missing at least 4, maybe more (UNLV to Pac, Air Force to the AAC with Navy and Army). We might not have any choice, but its gonna take a TON of money to move there and the time frame (is it 2026 also) to do that might make it a non-starter.

Remember that the transition fee is now $5M and the 15000 attendence average has been waived. The transition period is 2 years (ineligible for bowls).
