  • Week 6: UC Davis @ North Dakota
While Folsom is awesome, one high school can't be the main source for a program.
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ North Dakota
It's always crazy to see how a few plays can turn a season one way or another. Probably should have lost the USD game, and ND outplayed us on both sides of the ball...it was closer than it probably should have been. It's time to focus on the next game. Time will tell.

It seems like he’s bringing in the right guys. Give Hawk some time. This year’s schedule is really tough, as I said above, and two away games in ND (which were both really close) are murder. Run the table, see if we can get in, and then all bets are off!

Certainly no panic here. This is a tough schedule, and we will be constantly trying to up our game. Last year was a reflection on Hawk taking over a group of kids built by Gould (a great recruiter), and showing us all how a great coach would do it with them. I complained for years about our play-calling under Gould, but love, for the most part, the offense under Hawk. Triple tight-ends won't do it in this conference, Hawk knows it, but we have to acknowledge he has had the benefit of a really good QB. Lots to look forward to, but it seems like Suck St. is righting their ship (at least for a year).

I used to post all the time, but my son's high school schedule, and my nephew's college have me too busy. And yes, this is the week to show who they are.

Been watching this forum from afar for awhile. I had a feeling this year would be a drop off with both Dakotas. It's a tough place to go play two good teams. This team is not as good as last year, it lost an NFL receiver after all, and it showed against USD as well. Playoffs may be out the window already, but the games were both close. At this point, I'm not sure we can beat Suck St., and even Poly is going to be a test. Can't wait for Saturday.
  • Sears OUT at Sac State
Those young assistants Gould hired are doing pretty well. Bert Watts is the DC at Fresno State, and had a top 10 defense on a 12 win team that beat two Pac 12 teams, won their conference, and a bowl. Daft is having success at Dartmouth. It's pretty clear Gould was not the right hire, and he was the problem.
  • FCS Playoffs Quarterfinals: UC Davis @ Eastern Washington v2.0
This is all great...I'm just loving that we are still talking football!
  • Week 12: CAUSEWAY
Sadly, I've witnessed this exact situation first hand during the Angora Fire. Growing up in South Lake I recall seeing piles of debris for winter burns all over Angora's fire lookout (its been a turnaround for my bike rides and trail runs for 35 years). Then it stopped. Angora burst into flames, and now I'm seeing the piles again. Fire's are required for a health forest, and we stop them before they get to do their job. We are now in tinder box all over this state. My CalFire buddies have been talking about this for years...sadly their worst case is happening. Building in heavily forested areas is downright dangerous today.
  • Week 11: UC Davis @ Eastern Washington
We were outclassed this weekend by a home team on Senior Day. This game was the third in a row of tough games, and while I hate to make excuses, this one stacked up against us in every way. We come out and destroy Suck State, win a playoff game, and that will be a hell of a season.
  • Week 11: UC Davis @ Eastern Washington
This seems to be a problem for our defense. Last week, NAU had no offensive game plan other than 18 running wild. He did so a bunch. If our offense can keep scoring and giving our D breaks on effective drives (few 3 and outs), I think we will be fine. If our D gets gassed, however, we may be in for a long day.
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
I woke up today a believer. I’m nervous about being down 21-3, but that comeback. This team believes so I do too! Can’t wait to see all the new badwagon fans on Saturday...don’t worry...all are welcome.
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
You have been a voice of reason this board for a long time. We all tend to get to high and too low. 5-2 with Montana, NAU, and EWU coming up doesn't sound that good. 6-1 sounds much better! A win this week leads me to believe the ship is righted, holes a plugged, and we are moving forward again. A loss, well, it tells me we are still working on plugging the holes. Anyone who tells me that this schedule is tough (edited to say, so far), is looking at this through Aggie colored glasses.
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
SJSU is 0-7...football is in trouble there. You are right, big boy football from here on out.
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
SJSU is no longer an FBS...they are a joke. We had Oregon and Colorado State a few years ago, with both Montanas and EWU. That was brutal. The BS teams we’ve played so far, and continuing with Montana, are not the powers we saw in 2016, for example. This is our real test...three games to show us the state of the program.
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
10-1, and I’m on a three day bender at the Grad.
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
I'm not trying to be negative, but San Jose St. was terrible (they were the 124 ranked football team in the NCAA preseason), Cal Poly was a joke, and San Diego was totally over-matched. We played much tougher schedules in 2014 and 2016. The Idaho State game is our only win this year against a quality FCS. The NCU game stands out as a scary game for me...we gave up a ton of points to a 1-7 team. There is no doubt we are far better off this year than ever in the FCS era (record and status of the program). We have won some games we have found a way to lose the past 15 years, and are in a great position if win this week to show we are for real. This year's Montana team isn't what they have been (2-2 in Big Sky), and a loss would be a major setback in my opinion. Great year so far, but we have long way to go with EWU and NAU waiting in the wings. If we finish 7-4, I'll need therapy.
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
I totally agree. Thus far, we've benefited from what seems to be one of the easier schedules we've had (both in opponents and the quality of the year for those opponents), and stayed healthy in key positions. This game is a huge indicator of where we are this year and as a program in the conference. If we can come into the game to play this game (not avenge the 0-7 record), avoid mistakes that we've avoided all year so far, and can overcome the first crazy crowd we will see this year, then we come out 1-7.
  • Week 8: Aggies @ Cal Poly
Not to say I told you so, BUT I told you the Ags would schred CP. Montana is a real test...more on that thread!
