Grandson is a Folsom High receiver. He said Stetson was there today using their field for practice. His observation was that Stetson players in general were not much bigger than the Folsom High JVs.

the ticket situation was similar for last years opener (where the stadium was full). I’ve been looking the last couple months. They reserved about 3-4 sections. The orientation students are suggested to go to the game, so I am sure the student turn out will be huge for the kids first college football game. I agree sometimes they have reserved too many seats, but generally I don’t think the ticketing office really screws it up much.

Link to game flip chart. Seems like these take a lot of effort to make but then they are hidden in the media center.

Their logo looks awfully similar to that school across the causeway.

Minor, but I'm wondering if this is easier than it looks and is just a data pull. Something about it, probably the font and spacing, is making me think it's a heavily-formatted Excel. It could be they have some way to intake opponent rosters in a consistent way if not provided (pull from ESPN website?) and sort it.

Which is the way to do it, I'm not criticizing

    From Bob Dunning's Substack article:

Stetson University, a small private school in DeLand, Florida, has been playing intercollegiate football since 1901, fully 14 years before UC Davis took up the game.

In one remarkable 57-year stretch, Stetson was unbeaten in college football.

The catch to that, unfortunately, is that Stetson dropped football after beating University of Havana, 46-0, in 1956. That move came under pressure from faculty members who felt college football and strong academics were incompatible.

The Hatters resumed football 57 years later in 2013 and now compete at the FCS level in the Pioneer League.

Yes, they are the Hatters, named for school founder John B. Stetson, creator of the classic cowboy hat known the world over.

With an enrollment of just 2,350, Stetson nevertheless sponsors 21 varsity sports for men and women, giving it one of the highest ratios of student-athletes in the country.

Of all the schools playing football in the state of Florida, Stetson is the first one to have actually scored a touchdown, accomplishing the feat in a 6-0 win over Florida Agricultural College on November 22, 1901. A second touchdown in that game was waved off after a horse ran onto the field during the play.

Stetson, founded in 1885, is the oldest private school in the state of Florida.

For the first 110 years of its existence, Stetson was associated with the Florida Baptist Convention. Since 1995 it has been completely independent.

Former U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi is a 1990 graduate of the Stetson School of Law.

Undergraduate tuition at Stetson is $59,690 annually.

DeLand, a city of 46,000, is a short drive from Orlando to the north and Daytona Beach to the south.

We could fill this entire stadium with undergrads. We have zero excuses to not fill the place up.....other than people aren't football crazy around here.

Will the committee look down on FCS teams scheduling two Pioneer Lesgue teams? Or is it not that bad because both are FCS games as opposed to losing to FBS or beating DII which the latter is heavily penalized.

I'm looking forward to listening to the game tonight. Was busy for the Portland State game, the San Diego game was during the Cal-UCLA match up and last week was a mismatch.

Okay I am officially confused with what the hell the admin is doing. Checked Stetson game and now it says that something like 500 seats are open to buy. Who in the hell decided it was smart to wait until the day of the game to open that many tickets. So stupid. The fact we can't handle ticket sales, proper quality in press releases or get consistent messaging is infuriating. It feels like the university doesn't want to succeed sometimes.

Oh, and also rocko is posting AI slop... embarrassing messaging and logistics from our athletic department.

+Hoping the crowd is still awesome today but it just doesn't seem fair to the players to not do everything to get as many butts into the seats as possible. They better not pull this with the Montana game next week or it'll be a away team crowd.

That ticket situation is just stupid. I just bought a single on Stubhub for $23, sec 124. I gladly would've paid more to support the athletic department/program, would not have known but peaking at the message board before I head out the door. There must be 50 seats in 124, 50 yard line, two hours before game time (most are too low for me) but I bet most will go unsold.

I did a bit of scalping in NYC during grad school (only way I could afford to see the big game and concerts), maybe Rocko needs a ticket flow consultant.
