I just posted some NCAA FCS Statistics under the Honecoming Game thread. Our passing game is very efficient, but for some reason we don't do well on First down. One of those little things we could focus on.

thanks for that. That was a stat that seemed to be the case to me, but didn’t have actual numbers. I think that’s a big reason we haven’t had long drives - one vs poly with a 2 TD lead would have made the last minute or so of the game much more relaxing.

Dumb luck. But I'm sure if pointed out to Plough, CP, and the offense, they'll work on it. 2nd and 4 or 5 significantly better than 2nd and 9.

The catch that was not a catch. Not only did it hit the ground, he was juggling it on the way down. Not sure it would have mattered though.

Well, as I recall that was reviewed and the ruling on the field was upheld.

Honestly, I don't think it was a correct call either. It looked like the ball was coming out on the way to the ground. The Aggies caught a break on that one. Great win by Poly over Sac. Good luck for the rest of the season.

What got me on this play and he was juggling it on the way down and it bounced off the ground and up into his stomach and they still called it a catch after reviewing it. Once again I am not saying it was a game changing play, just they got this call wrong like many other that night that went against both teams. I was not impressed with the refs, but was impressed with the Aggies.

All refs suck and miss calls... nature of the business. Looks like they missed that one too.

Listening to the Aggie Pride Podcast the other day, they talked about the old, big Horseshoe Trophy that used to be associated with the game. I know Cal Poly's football program is housed (for now) in that crappy old building across the street from the visitor's stands near where the teams dress. Here's a though; has anyone ever thought to dig through that old building and the storage there for that trophy? It could be buried under boxes and random junk somewhere in that building.

As in PI, as in Holding Calls - NAU was holding Davis on at least a half dozen key plays on Saturday.

Above photo only shows not a “tight clamp” in the air - not the state as all hit the ground. It could have gone either way - but on the field call likely made the difference.

I was rooting for your guys against Montana. If Dieffenbach had not sailed a couple of throws - things might have worked out differently. It’s tough to play in WaGriz and I think Poly tired in the last quarter or so.

The Battle For the Golden Horseshoe will be even bigger this year with the departure of that one team that couldn't beat either Davis or Poly the last 2 seasons who bent over and grabbed their ankles to get the UMass experience... Can't remember what they were called again.. their mascot was some dumb annoying insect like a Mosquito or gnat or something..

Anyway, looking forward to this year's Golden Horseshoe game @ Davis- I am planning to make it up there for the first time this year. I am thinking late November should be nice and cool weather also, which I appreciate.

I noticed you guys also have a Woodstock's Pizza.. I love their pizza, but is yours also super expensive up there? That is like the world's most expensive pizza, but its so good..

Woodstock's is worth the price, you know that :rofl: I actually prefer the one in SLO but will hit Davis after a home dub.

, the Stangs were busy in the portal this year again. By the time they get to the Ags, they will either be gelling as a team, or the mercenary ship will have sunk. Transfer-heavy is always an interesting chemistry experiment, but it is easier to admit students as transfers at SLO than it is as freshmen so I get it.

I am really looking forward to visiting Davis. I am also going to walk around campus and check stuff out. Looks like a huge campus.

Yeah, the Mustangs seem to have a lot of turnover- both players and coaches. We seem to attract a lot of FBS transfer QBs who just want to play and then leave after 1 year, which isn't great.

I am just hoping next year we are at .500 and can start getting some momentum. I am also hoping to see Aggie Stadium really full-. I really think this is a great rivalry and hope it lasts a while longer.. but looks like you guys want to be out in 3 years, so we'll see what happens.

Be sure to afford yourself enough time to wander the tailgate scenes, both behind the scoreboard, along La Rue Rd., and on Biggs Field next to the football building. People are cool and there is plenty of free beer and food to be had for visiting fans in my experience. I haven't seen anyone run out of a tailgate for wearing the wrong gear, at least not yet!

Just FYI, Woodstock's Pizza moved from G St (midway between 2nd and 3rd) to the corner of G and 3rd (that whole section of G st. is closed to cars and there are several places to eat/drink...i'd suggest 3 Mile Brewery which is directly across G St from Woodstock's in a small little courtyard). The new location is a lot bigger than the old, has good outside seating, and plenty of TVs for your sporting entertainment.

@ Pacifico - I figured as much for Davis fans, which seem like classy people compared to many schools- It is a bad look when teams get hostile towards visiting fans, I don't get that. It's just a game and people are there to enjoy themselves. Why would you want to treat visiting fans poorly?

Was talking to a friend about which away game we are going to this year and San Jose State came up because it's the annual FBS game and a bit closer and driveable, but talked him out of it as I went there a couple of years ago and it was a horrible experience. I hate that stadium. The neighborhood had nothing going on except cardboard recycling. Not really a tailgate area anymore, nowhere to get food or drink outside the stadium nearby etc. Not sure what they were thinking with that weird renovation they did to the east side of the stadium that makes no sense and looks like an IKEA and ruins the whole place. .

Anyway, looking forward to getting up there in a few months, thanks for the tips.

All renovations in San Jose are probably related to soccer needs I'm guessing. I would place Davis as one of the more civilized places I've ever watched games or tailgated at. People are great, and if not, you can always go talk to the dairy heifers right across the street.

I had a good experience at Calicraft Brewery in the Trader Joe's shopping center, which is about a 10-15 minute stroll from the stadium. Pizza was decent and they have a full bar with TVs Not sure if it's an actual brewery with their own stuff, don't remember.

No food served (or teevs) at Three Mile.

Yeah as Russ said, no food there, but they allow you to bring in outside food.

Calicraft is a good addition to the Davis bar/brewery scene. They do make their own beer, I think at a brewery located in Fairfield. Good indoor/outdoor space.

I'm nominating as our official beer liaison for the season, good local knowledge. When you're pulling undisclosed brewing locations, you have game.

Ha!! I’ll accept that title. Actually I’ve got a good buddy who is a licensed beer tasting judge so most of my knowledge comes from him.

That's outstanding. We may need to bring him on the board to rate the breweries in and around UCD for us to visit
