DB Cornell James commits to the Ags!

Makaafi is a LOAD! He really gets off the ball and accelerates, probably going to add 25+ lbs. and be a monster at Nose. That's a good get!

The second film clip for James tells you all you need to know. Fluid hips, can really change direction, good speed, and looks to have elite ball skills. Another one with big upside!

    Go Ags!

Out of curiosity, does a nose guard need to have elite ball skills?

I think he's referring to the DB commit. Doesn't hurt though! ha

It appears to me that 3 star ratings are less numerous than in recent years. Guys who have multiple offers, including some lesser FBS teams don’t have ratings . I wonder if 247 cut back on the number of player evaluations they do. I notice on FCS Football Central that they are writing articles about recruits that don’t have ratings.

Yes, much of the 247 west coast team moved to On3. There are far fewer players in the eval base than in years prior with the P4 going so heavy in the portal.

I hope he has a nick name, lol. That’s a long name for the announcers.

3 star RB Eli Dukes commits to UC Davis! Go Ags!

Plough and his coaches are killing it on the recruiting trail! We are getting some recruits who are selecting the Aggies over FBS programs like Cal, Stanford, Boise State, San Diego State, Nevada, UNLV, Oregon State, Colorado State, San Jose State, Wyoming and, of course, Sac.

Dukes is quite the athlete as well. I watched his highlights and he has some Larison-esque traits. Rivals has him ranked (tied) as the highest rated RB in California.

This post mentions the Aggies are expected to move up in 2029. Wonder where Eli got that info

    Offer on DL Brayden Tautolo

This isn’t exactly the case. Most of these guys are FCS recruits and a few have real offers from lower level FBS programs like Nevada. A committable offer from Cal and Stanford comes with a paycheck and nobody passes that up.

same! I’ve thought that the staff must be telling recruits things we don’t know…

Weird that it is very specific on a year, but says MW or P12. I can't imagine that we would be MW for all Olympic sports, but P12 for football especially since P12 has stated they aren't interested in FCS transitions.

But interesting that info got out there.

Do junior year commits actually mean anything? Say, he has another great season and UCLA comes calling with a hunk of cash? Can’t he just back out of the deal?
  • CA Forever

correct, there is nothing officially binding these players to staying committed until the signing period

. I think that is just the local reporter’s analysis, not something he was told. The Pac-12 option hasn’t made sense since Davis joined the Mountain West.

Player commits mean so little that I’ve seen a players social media post announcing his commitment include a notice that he was still open to recruitment,

I know a little bit about football, have spent a lot of time watching it and even playing it a hundred years ago. The stars, the ratings, all that crap, is meaningless. The film doesn't lie, fellas. If you know what you're looking at, you know what you're NOT looking at. Junior commits are as meaningful as pre-season rankings and ratings.

No expert here, but have eyes, and recall Arizona high school DB Ryan Parenteau jumping off the film. Multiple colleges had backed way off, including us. Top student, so not a grades issue. Glad we changed coarse.

Junior commitments are incredibly meaningful in June and July. The recruiting calendar has shifted forward and the big guys have allocated their NIL money. They won’t all stick but the odds of losing someone laterally or even up to unpaid G6 is much lower than the old days.
