Additionally per 247 we have an offer out of QB Garrett Bass-Sulpizio out of La Jolla, but I have not been able to find any social media posts confirming the offer.
Just curious-is there some kind of template that potential recruits are instructed to use if they plan to post about scholarship offers on social media, or do you think they're just copying each other, sort of social referencing ? The reason is most of them start with "After a great conversation with..." and the only commonn deviation is to thank God or family. It would not surprise me if they were in fact instructed on what to say in order to avoid legal issues and negative media attention.
That's a good question that I don't really have an answer for. You are correct though that most if not all offer announcements are made in the same general template/format.
It would be nice to land a couple of these early OL offers, but most of these guys are receiving FBS interest. Doesn't mean we can't land them, but we're definitely swinging for the fences on some of these guys.
Sac announced a new transfer form Texas no less. played 4 years there. No idea if he is a grad transfer or not. I don’t think we will ever do well with grad transfers. There are no UCD masters programs that I know of who would tolerate a transfer just because he wants to play football. It’s been o a few years, but my daughter (a UCD English grad) who had good but not great grades never got accepted into the masters program in English at davis. Wound up at San Diego State. She had to undergo face to face interviews with UCD professors and she said it was very stressful. If we get or got any they will have to be excellent and serious students.
OK the Point I wanted to make was most of our graduate programs scrutinize their applicants. It is not just some write in do you have the grades and your in type of thing. I am speculating that it is reasonable to expect a question from an admissions person at UCD to simply ask “do you have any other expectations from your master degree” or other “activities”. These people aren’t stupid. A 245 pound guy comes in to the psych department from Texas? There are going to be questions. That is all I wanted to say. Does sac do the same? Frankly I don’t know. But I doubt it is as rigorous as any UC school. My former post was badly written I admit.
I did a MS before going into professional school. I had good grades, but from what i saw a prof had to have room and funding to take on a grad student. Knowing people in the department and especially the prof, made the process seamless. Maybe social studies disciplines are different. But i totally agree UCD academic standards are going to limit graduate level football transfers.
Less academically oriented schools or those not impacted by high demand allow second bachelors degree or something else that someone can complete in a limited time. Lots of these grad transfers only have a season of eligibility. So Davis isn’t going to be an option for many.
So Texas four star going to sac. Saw this awhile ago and thought nothing of it. Now bee has it on their sports front page. A done deal. I certainly have nothing against this kid. Seems good. But there is just something odd about this that’s not right. Came to sac because the sac d line coach comes from St. Louis as does he? Really. . . .
