I mean it seriously looks like the Fullerton guys have jets on coming down the court.

Yeah I think this game is over, the 3s to try and build any momentum are missing. As excited as I am for the MW next year its crazy seeing this era come to an end.

Not sure how this is going to work out in the MW next year.

I really do wonder if they chop him after the season (I could see it 2 ways, one of which would be the admin wanting a fresh start in the new conference, the other keeping some stability). Im not saying if its right or wrong but im curious.

I’m certain it’s not going to work.

Hard to blame anyone for what appears to be a loss in the last Big West game the Aggies will ever play, but especially the coach. This team has been inconsistent all year and with the injuries, fatigue and playing a hot team, this was going to be a tough one to win,

the team has had a similar record of being consistently pretty okay the last 3+ years. I think Les is a good coach but the somewhat stagnant seasons since that 2017 march madness run makes me think some fresh perspective wouldn’t be the worst idea. I don’t expect the AGS to be amazing right into the MW anyways, but I don’t know if sticking to the same coaching that has ended the last few seasons with a decent record but no bids from the Big West since 2017 is the right move. Sure, Les and co (the longest continuous staff in d1 gives some level of consistency but sometimes things need to be shifted (even if it’s hard in the short term, which the MW move already will be).

Jim Les is one of the best coaches in the west. We do need to bring in some talent with size to be able to match up with some of the better teams in the MW.
  • SoCalAggie

Yea him is a good coach. We just need more talent.

I ask this completely honestly, what makes him one of the best coaches in the west? I know it’s difficult compared to many of our non-football schools in the Big West to run a program, but other than that 2017 run to March Madness I don’t really see how he’s been one of the best coaches (considering his record is literally .500)

Note that the difference in the game is 15 (70-55) at this point and the Titans have made exactly 15 more free throws so far, getting more than twice as many chances as the Aggies. Also, Sevilla is 2 for 7. I think his hand is still bothering him.

Wow, didn’t realize it would get so chippy at the end. I think Joshua Ward said something to Rocak and Sevilla

    Going to miss Rocak.

Disappointing end, but we also were losing by 21 points at one point and brought it to a 12 point game. We didn’t have Cooper nor Stokes, which could have been huge. Sucks that this was Rocak’s last game. I’m hoping we don’t have many guys enter the transfer portal.

As disappointing as it is this game illustrates why Jim Les is a great coach. He got his team to improve their rebounding and defense fighting through their fatigue to play Fullerton pretty even in the second half. It's pretty clear that the players like and respect him as evidenced by the fact that he loses very few players to the transfer portal. He is able to recruit intelligent players seeing potential in them that he is able to bring out, probably through good teaching. His play designs, especially on in-bounds plays has been remarked upon my numerous commentators. Davis needs to keep him next year not only for stability but because he has shown foresight in recruiting a lot of young players who will likely stay at UCD next year and well all improve. The Ags only lose Rocak and Daughtery for next year. All of the underclassmen will be better. I like our chances in the MWC next season as many of thebetter teams will be gone.

We got within 6 with about 2 minutes to go.

Rebounding and FT's were the difference in this game. Fullerton made 38 of 45 FT's compared to our 17 of 22. We were out rebounded by a whooping 52-30. Cooper and Stokes are both good rebounders and we really missed having them.

Rocak tied the all time Aggie record for blocks tonight.

They had no legs tonight - in person, you could really see we were just a step slow on both ends. Fullerton is athletic and aggressive which compounded the problem - lots of second chance points and touch fouls ( many that were questionable). Too ending but not unexpected when we were basically seven deep (and in foul trouble!).

Top four remain - just shows how important getting a bye is!

I felt for Wilson. He had a big group from Albuquerque there for the games and he gets two ticky-tack fouls in the first 2 minutes (and the wrath of Les), and sat for the next 18. Second half it looked like he felt the weight of the world in his shoulders and tried to carry us back into contention - but he really struggled. Tough kid.

Comeback was fun but the fouls just kept coming and never let us complete the miracle. The ref that called the T seemed to be taking things a bit personal - we got no calls from him and some odd ones on the other side.

On the plus side, wife continued her slot streak pregame at the Green Valley Resort. Defies the laws of probability.

I woke up and it still feels so wild to think we won’t be getting matchups against SB and UCI anymore, the world moves fast! Hopefully we schedule big west teams out of conference. Playing SB, Nevada and New Mexico in a season would be fun!

Speaking of Nevada, I think we could have an amazing rivalry on our hands. That win against them earlier this year has aged well.

Les was humble and proud of his team's effort and noted how proud he was of them for battling through a lot of key injuries that took its toll on the team late in the season and in the BW Tournament. He congratulated Dedrique Taylor and Fullerton on win their while Taylor said nothing about the Aggies.

He was on point with how he said he thought the game went. I like both coaches, seem like great dudes. Thanks for sharing the videos!

It’s funny with basketball - I think because we sit closer to the action and you can see/hear the players so well (compared to football), we develop a bit of a bond with the players. Makes it painful to see them go through a battle like last night, really hard to see a ‘kid’ like Niko sitting on the bench crying after giving his heart and soul to the program. Hope we can keep this group together and bring in a few new key players for the step up In competition.
