It would be easier to get over-confident against Fullerton than it was against Long Beach. Not only did UC Davis beat the Titans in Davis is a low scoring affair in which CSUF managed to hit only 1 in 20 3-point tries, but they are currently in the cellar of the Big West, having only won a single game. On the other hand, the Aggies played poorly in that game as well, clanking 18 treys, with the game mostly being salvaged by Conner Sevilla’s 4 of 5 from beyond the arc. It is a critical game for UCD as of their last 7 games, they are 1-4 against teams they’ve already played and the other two are vs. UC San Diego.
6.5 point favorites tonight. Besides Bako at home, this might be our last game as a favorite, ag least by this type of margin. Defense travels - shut them down again!
Our remaining schedule is brutal. After 2 weeks on the road, back for a Thursday then bdck on the plane to UCSD! That final homestand of Irvine and UCSD
Good to see DeBruhl firing away, but the Ags are only 1 of 6 from the free throw line. Odd that they can shoot over 45% from the 3 but only 16% from the free.
Feels like we should be up 20 but the FT's have kept them within striking distance. Our defense is has held them to 23% shooting with 9 TO's. Meanwhile, we're shooting 54% which is really nice for a change!
Earlier this season, I made a point about how UCD was not dishing out enough assists. Of late, they've really improved there with 10 in the first half. They had 15 against the Beach on Thursday.
Titans still haven't missed a free throw. They have almost as many points there as from the field. Clearly the Aggies need to improve their D from the foul line.
Solid win for the Ags 65-49. Season low point total for Fullerton. The Aggie defense held them to 29.8% shooting and forced 22 TO's. Niko had 4 blocks. Great game for Leo: 11 points, 10 assists, 6 steals and 6 rebounds.
The more I see of Mani, the less I'm impressed. His athleticism is not apparent. He looks lost on the court, especially on defense. And I agree that he seems out of shape.
Puppy was the description I shared with my wife - who agreed. Mani has a long way to go. I don't know what his injury was so I'm not going to guess about his physical condition right now.
he gets manhandled on defense - that’s something weight training can help with. Offensively, his confidence is not there. He finally demanded the ball with his defender backing off allowing him an open 3, but the first minute of so he was very tentative. Hopefully, just staying healthy and getting court time (preseason practices and games) will help.
he might still pan out. He’s been hurt the past 2 preseasons, so he’s missed valuable development time. He hasn’t been healthy until well into the season, so it’s been hard to get into the rotation and allow him to get some confidence.
