The Aggies drag themselves home with a losing record in conference play and needing a sweep this week, which will be tough given their opponent on Saturday. In the meantime they need to get past the Titans who aren’t exactly burning through the Big West, but have good victories over UCSB and UCSD, the latter on the road, although the Tritons have stumbled a bit after going 11-2 prior to January. Their road record is 2-6 with the best win being the aforementioned one over UCSD. Statistically they resemble Cal Poly in that the Titans score a lot of points, first in the Big West by a large margin, 86.7 ppg. (UCD is second at 81.2) while giving up a lot of points, 85.9 ppg. 9th worst in all of Division 1. They don’t, however, make a high percentage of 3 point shots or one scorer, like Hamad Mousa, rather they rely on balanced scoring and they have a lot of depth.

Again, similar to Cal Poly, Fullerton often has five guards on the court, although they have been including a forward in the starting lineup. In fact, looking at their roster, there are only two forwards on the entire team. One of them, starting forward Kendrick De Luna, 6’ 10” is the only player returning from last year. The fact that he has shot 100% from the 3 point line does not mean he is much of a factor (he’s 1 for 1). He averages 4.2 ppg and 2.6 rpg. The forward most likely spend more time on the floor at the Credit Union Center is Landon Seamon, a 6’ 8” forward from Vacaville who transferred from Menlo College. He’s been good for 21 minutes a game, 13.5 ppg. and 3.9 rpg. Hope this means that Coach Les will start Niko Rocak.

The four starting guards are Joshua Ward, a transfer from Life University (there is Life in Georgia), Jefferson De La Cruz Monegro from Valparaiso and freshmen Bryce Cofield and Christian Williams. Also getting double minutes of playing time so far are freshmen guards Davis White and K. J. Garris plus transfer Jaden Henderson, from Jessup, and Bailey Nunn, from Sac State. The scoring comes from Seamon, Ward, De La Cruz Monegro, and Cofield who all score from 12 to 14 ppg combining for 53 ppg. I’m guessing that they swarm to the ball for rebounds because for all their lack of big men, they have 11.2 offensive rebounds per game v, 9.3 for the Ags

Unlike Cal Poly, the Aggies will be at home for this one, so it’s time to get back to .500.

this is a team that i penciled in for the bottom 3 (the guys that miss the tournament), so this one is critical. The other 2 on my list were Bakersfield (who has a road win over us) and LBSU.

Curse the NFL scheduling. I just found out that the 49ers play at the same time as the Aggies this Saturday. Unfortunately, the 49ers game is a bigger deal, so I'll have to watch a replay later or on Sunday.

I've been doing a lot of watching the replay later this year. Guess that'll happen again Saturday.

I've been watching a lot of replays too, and it's great! I'm worried that the Mountain West channel won't have reliable replays like espn+.

I do the same thing. I hope I don't overhear the score of the 49ers game while we're at the game and spoil the replay for us when we get home.

My worry is overhearing the women's game from the sports commentators while watching the men's game and vice versa.

I also worry about accidentally reading comments on this board before watching the game.

My last concern is I try not to know if there any minutes left in the video. That will give me clues if the game reaches overtime, or if the game is a blowout.

That is a huge issue for me (and my daughter) who watch most of the NCAA volleyball games on delay. If you're in the second set and there is not much time left on your stream, than you know whoever won set 1 probably sweeps it.

Yes, thanks I just realized that I was getting confused between the Fullerton game and the Irvine game. I mean, they're both in Orange County, right?

3.5 point favorites which surprised me a bit. I thought we’d be solid favorites. I’m seeing predictions in the 83-80 range. Big game with league favorite Irvine on deck

I think the jury is still out about how good this team could be. We have lots of new and young players and it seems like that the rotation that Les is going to use is becoming more established of late.

However, it also seems that we aren't as deep as it looked like we could be early on in the season. Suljanovic began the season as a starter but his PT has dwindled to very little in the last 8 games. CJ Franklin showed his potential with 10 points in 16 minutes at Idaho State but rarely sees the floor. Jonathan Noudjihidi has the length we lack but has only appeared in 3 games for a total of 16 minutes and has been in street clothes lately and Elan Esso-Esiss has been out the entire season.

I'm hoping that we find the consistency that we have been lacking in this 4 home game stretch.

Rocak making up for lost minutes down in SLO. He already has 7 of the Ags 9 points. Aggie's D has been solid so far.

This game is hardly marked by proficiency by either team. The Titans are less proficient, though. The two teams have combined to make just 4 of 20 treys only 1 of 7 from Fullerton. Both team are under 70% from the line. They've combined for 25 turnovers. The winning features for UC Davis are great defense, a big rebounding edge and hitting 467% from the inside the arc. My one fear for the second half is that Fullerton's offense will explode the way Cal Poly's did last week. A team that scores almost 90 points a game is not going to be held to 24 points for another full half.

Sluggish game up 32-24 at half. 13 TOs for us, 22 for them. Not much flow. Feels like we should be up way more. Pace of the game has taken a lot of the crowd energy away

De Luna, #24 is hitting only 4 of 25 (16%) of his free throws this season. If it comes down to it, he'd be the one to foul.

That was an overall pretty sad exhibition of basketball but a win is a win. Thank goodness for Conner Sevilla, although he only made one field goal, his free throw shots held off a bad loss to the surging Titans.

Do you feel Sevilla has found his footing again in the shooting game? He really jumped at the start of the season and then seemed to level off after a tough game or 2.

Sevilla was wearing his ankle braces again tonight. He hasn't in the past couple of games, I think.

I was listening to Les on the postgame on the ride home - sounds like the flu has had a big impact this week. Probably why no Stokes tonight, and perhaps some of the reason for the early turnovers (they struggled to have enough players at practice)

There was an interesting interaction between an official and the UCD cheer squad who were sitting along the baseline in the blue area. He chased them off - telling them they needed to be behind the white line. He threatened to stop play unless they moved, which they did. I saw them talking with Rocko about it. In the 2nd half they moved to the other end of the court but eventually left before the end of the game.

So I looked up the rule. There's supposed to be "restraining line" 6' back from the baseline. During play no one is to be between that restraining line and the baseline. The backboard's support structure's leading edge is 6' from the baseline. I'm watching the women's game and the restraining line clearly marked on the court at Fullerton.

I've never seen this called before. Maybe it's becoming a player safety thing.

Some officials are more picky about it than others. We (the Band-uh) got warned about it occasionally, as did the dance or stunt teams when they stood in front of us.

I suspect he has some slight injury problems. Not so bad as to keep him out of the game but it might be affecting his shooting of his long range jumpers. Clearly, when he does not have to move much he can hot his shots.

This was a tough, physical game and a good win for the Ags especially considering the flu hit the team this week and some of the players were still under the weather but gutted it out. It wasn't pretty but it goes in the W column.
