NCAA turned down the school’s appeal; I believe the next step is to get lawyers involved.

With all the BS the NCAA does, this seems like a poor decision by them. Don’t count JC years, but count a game that doesn’t exist? Guys are out there for 6 seasons, 4 or 5 schools, but that fits the student-athlete model!

That's absolutely insane. The Mercer game should essentially be considered a bye week at this point. So now Ags need to get to the natty for the twins to get their year back? Crazy stuff

It appears this was made before Carter injured his knee. Undeniable talent for so.

As best i can tell the rule is calculated X= .30 * number of scheduled games, where playoff games count. Fractional results are rounded up to the next whole number.
Example team plays 11 games times .30 yields 3.3 so that is rounded up to four.
Davis has 12 games in regular season plus the 2 playoff games totaling 14 games.
    .30 * 14 = 4.2 rounded up is 5 games. The Connors.are.eligible by rule. Tell me if I'm wrong.

That rule changed last year. Playoff games don’t count anymore. Their only hope is if the Mercer game doesn’t count.

Number of scheduled games. So, if a game is scheduled and cancelled then is that a scheduled game that counts. Say, Covid causes the cancellation, does that count as a game played in?

I hope they do get lawyers involved. That's an insane ruling. How can you count a game that you also ruled doesn't count?

Agreed. We must have some sharp alums who can help. This also likely really impacts NFL aspirations / pro ball.

I'd like to see us take any measures possible to get this asinine ruling overturned for the Connors brothers but I'm sure that would be a costly and lengthy process. Do you think that Aggie Athletics will actually take the step to get lawyers involved?

RB Julius Davis at Montana State is playing in his 7th year of college football. Call Bozeman and get their lawyers to give us some pointers. His first redshirt year was in 2019 at Wisconsin for God's sake.

How about the senior law students do the work and professor just looks things over and signs it
This would be a good education as i. See it

this is a win-win. real life case work and athletics depts across the country are going to need more lawyers/agents with that sort of experience.

When I got back from the game (Seriously, we need too address the bad cell signal at the stadium because its awful), most my buddies I served with around the world were texting me, "hey bro I'm watching your Davis team on ESPN, I didn't know you guys look like Notre Dame"....LOL..

You are correct about the cell service - it's impossible to post anything inside.

Appreciate your service too - got in a relatively polite verbal argument at the game with a lady next to me who was bashing the Salute to Heroes montage during the game as something "we're only do because we're on ESPN tonight."

Brought my Uncle, who is US Army retired to the Sac State game, and I thought it was Salute to Heroes night, but there was really no ceremony or acknowledgment all game during Causeway, so was glad to see it on Saturday vs. Rhody.

The cell coverage is on the carriers They have to have capacity for an unexpected 10,000 customers showing up on their towers.
Major stadiums have micro cell infrastructure located in telecom closets in the stadium. But someone has to pay for that.

We have Verizon and it's impossible for us to get cell reception at the games. We even have problems getting reception at the Aggie basketball games when there's a big crowd but that doesn't happen very often.

I have Verizon for the Sacramento State and the Rhode Island games. I had practically no signal for the Sacramento State game, and the signal was passable for the Rhode Island game. I sat at the second top seat at the 50 yard line at the Rhode Island game.

Try logging onto the wifi. There’s a ucd roam that at times is better than cell signal.

What do you guys do on your phones during a football game? Text and check scores? That's half the fun for me, 3.5 hours+ where I can break from the tether

I like to dial up the Live Stats and look at the team stats as the game progresses. It would be nice to post a photo or two of the crowd and the lit up water tower to our forum at times.

I think the new Water Tower lights are producing an EM pulse that is interfering with the reception.

For me, I text with my daughter, who is watching the games from Chicago, about her opinions on "official reviews". I've got several rows around us now asking what the replays are looking like.

OK, now I know! All valid reasons to improve the cell reception. Don't they hang those router deals all around the stadium?

Man, I enjoy the lights on the Water Tower. It would be cool if the Aggie Christmas light guys could somehow sync the tower with the music in the stadium, that would simply take it over the top.

Anyone know anything about the stadium networking? Does it have wireless access points? Cellular antennas? Micro cells, telecommunication closets, racks, availabe fiber uplinks etc. Maybe building wireless communication infrastructure should be in the upgrade plan. Could be a project with a significant cost.

In 2006 when the stadium was being built, 2G was the prevailing technology. The first iPhone in 2007 did not have a camera! The lower frequency was better at bouncing around from terrestrial towers into the sunken bowl. Modern high frequency signals like 5G have much better data capacity, but have shorter range, require line of sight, and get absorbed more readily by bodies in a crowd setting. If the university has not added 5G sites, service in the bowl has likely degraded in the last 5 years since the carriers shut off 2g/3g. From public maps it looks there are macrocells at Hutchison Field to the east and Garrod Dr west of 113. If they didn’t add 5G small cells all over campus they likely do have poor density coverage and makes sense why the stadium bowl is in a shadow.

As a short term solution, they could rent a temporary microcell trailer from Crown Castle. The carriers want out of the infrastructure business, so companies like CC actually own a lot of it now. You need shore power and a connection to a fiber backbone and then ATT, Verizon, and TMobile supply edge routers to CC to carry their network. This is ugly but not actually that prohibitive to rent and will provide ok service.

The correct permanent way to build this out is a distributed antenna system, with fiber to radio heads all over the stadium. Modern radio heads can broadcast cellular and WiFi signals. Under the seats or on railings is actually ideal so you keep the cells small and a lot of radio traffic at leg level - we have less water mass in our legs. Carriers have no interest in funding this sort of thing beyond providing an edge router and at that they will make you wait 6-12 months. Probably a $3M job all in if you want a system for reliable mass live streaming.
